Genuine Concern or Pandering?
Can anyone name just one Republican who honestly thinks if Adam and Steve get married his opwn marriage is threatened?

I don't mean the ones who roar about it. I am asking if you think there's even one of them who genuinely gives a shit.

1. None of them actually cares.
This is the most transparent bit of pandering to the rightwing fundies and freepers I have ever seen. Our Congress and Senate waste their time doing that instead of actually getting things done that matter. :banghead:

2. My Republican relatives think it is a steaming load.
My parents are both Republican and were largely ambivalent about the whole issue. Now they're pissed at Bush for dredging up this dog and pony show when there is so much else that needs to be addressed.

My Mom said "I think he has gone to the well one too many times on this one."

My Dad said "The man is a moron."

3. Yeah - all the Repubs who really ARE GAY, but, too afraid of BEING gay
because they're self-loathing idiots. That would be a very long list. Lindsey Graham - oops, he's not married. Rush Limbaugh.

4. people that are afraid of gays don't know enough gay people
I'm talking people that are sincerely freaked out by it.

It's kind of amazing how they get a lot less freaked out when they find out someone they love is gay. I've seen it happen, it's amazing. I've heard about people that respond with denial, but I haven't seen that. In the cases I've seen it's a total transformation, the intolerance vanishes.

Politicians know a lot of people, and they're too savvy to stay in denial very long, so I think every single politican who professes intolerance of gays is a total fake.
