Please sign the estate tax letter to Senators –
Deadline, Wednesday, May 31 - TODAY!
There are a Trillion Reasons Why!
Just some:
Repeal or drastic cuts in the estate tax will cost about $1 trillion over 10 years.
That means dramatically less money for services you care about.
Gutting or repealing the estate tax is one of the most unfair tax cuts ever – only the richest fraction of one percent of Americans pay it. If the tax rate is dropped as proposed, more than half the benefits will go to just 700 estates worth more than $20 million each – they’ll each get $9 million in tax handouts in 2011 alone. By then, if current funding policies stay in place, there will be hundreds of thousands fewer children receiving federal child care help - and that's just one example of shortsighted cuts.
Gutting or repealing the estate tax will discourage charitable giving – that can lead to reduced funding from foundations to nonprofits.
The deadline for signing is Wednesday, May 31. The Senate may take up repeal as early as the first week in June.
We need individuals to tell their Senators the estate tax should be preserved! If you’d like to send an emailed letter,
