Official results: NEW MEXICO
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 09:10 PM by Skinner
In order to help everyone keep track of the returns from each state, please post all updates in the seven OFFICIAL THREADS posted for this purpose. There will be one thread for each state. Please do not start a bunch of other results threads, as they will just make people confused.

INSTRUCTIONS

Please put the most important information from each update in the SUBJECT LINE of your post, so the returns are easy to follow. Include the two-letter state abbreviation, then the number of precincts reporting, followed by the first three or four candidates in order. Kinda like this:

NM - 00% reporting - Candidate A 00%, Candidate B 00%, Candidate C 00%, Candidate D 00%

This thread is for results ONLY. Please avoid unnecessary discussion in this thread.

35. The second site lists total voters close to the numbers of the
absentee ballots. They can't be at 97% reporting or less than 10,000 people actually went to the caucus. Something's definitely screwy. Maybe they haven't counted the absentee ballots yet.

39. Didn't all the other places count the absentee ballots last?
What's the proper protocol for dealing with absentee ballots? If it were only absentee ballots that were counted I would expect Dean's numbers to be much higher than they were, probably Clark's too. The absentee ballots were sent out on January 2nd and had to be returned by January 26th. The last day they could even be requested was January 20th. Dean was the solid front runner until Iowa, and Kerry was polling very low. I'm guessing the absentees haven't been counted yet. If they were, there is no way Kerry would have as much as he did just due to him not even getting positivie press until late on January 19th and then on January 20th. Doesn't make any sense at all.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/primaries/pages/dates/02/03/ 18% reported, but if you add them up, the total is more than 26k

37. 22% reporting
please note the vote counts. I don't know where the 97% in the earlier thread comes from, but it's not total number of votes cast in the state. They are expecting well in excess of 48,000 votes.

Kerry 8,198 30%
Dean 6,559 24%
Clark 6,549 24%
Edwards 2,881 11%
Kucinich 1,461 5%
Lieberman 790 3%
