BREAKING: Verdict reached in Ryan trial
Verdict reached in Ryan trial
April 17, 2006

BY NATASHA KORECKI Federal Courts Reporter

After more than six months the 12-member jury has reached a verdict in George Ryan's public corruption trial, according to the judge's chambers. The verdict is to be announced later this morning.

The six-man, six-woman jury had deliberated for 10 days and notified the judge of the verdict shortly after arriving Monday morning.

U.S. District Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer summoned attorneys to her courtroom so the verdict could be announced. No specific announcement time was set.

The decision came on the jury's second attempt to reach a verdict, with two alternates brought in after the judge dismissed two jurors eight days into the original deliberations.

1. Great news
"Prosecutors say Warner made $3 million from Ryan-era deals. Neither Ryan nor Warner took the stand during their trial, and both said nothing they did was illegal."

It just never ceases to amaze me how out of touch these crooks are. Good riddance former Gov. Ryan, you suck!
