Bush gets beaned playing cricket in Pakistan

http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20060304090109990001&ncid=NWS00010000000001

After a day of meetings, Bush rolled up his shirt sleeves Saturday afternoon and headed out to the lawn of the U.S. Embassy to play the baseball-like sport with Pakistani students.

He took his turn at bat after a few pointers from Shahryar Khan, chairman of Pakistan's Cricket Board, and Inzamam-ul-Haq, captain of Pakistan's Cricket Team.

Bush took three practice swings with the bat, which is flat on one side and humped on the other. He pretended to knock dirt from his shoes like a baseball player stepping up to the plate, then strode up to the wickets for a few swings.

The president connected with the first pitch, was hit in the shoulder by the second one, and sent a third ball sailing into a tree.

ISLAMABAD: Police on Saturday detained former cricketer Imran Khan at his Islamabad home and arrested dozens of supporters from his party to block a rally against US president George W Bush's visit.

Among the few who gathered to join the protest march to Islamabad from Rawalpindi, police beat and arrested at least 16 people who were chanting slogans against Bush and Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf.

Police ordered a handful of other demonstrators to go home or face arrest.

In Karachi, a total of about 500 people gathered at small rallies, chanting, "Killer of Afghans George Bush," and "Killer of Iraq George Bush." One banner read, "How much more blood you want Uncle Sam?"
