Bush Deal Lets Corporate/Factory Farms Off the Hook on Pollution Fines
Bush Deal Lets Corporate/Factory Farms Off the Hook on Pollution Fines
January 31st, 2006 @ 2:48 pm

The Bush administration has made a deal that will let thousands of factory-style farms off the hook on pollution fines in connection to their role in fouling the air and water with animal excrement. Their claim is that this is being done in exchange for “data to help curb future pollution.” Factory farms are known to be the among the worst corporate polluters in the nation.

The Environmental Protection Agency has signed agreements with 2,681 animal feeding operations in the egg, chicken, turkey, dairy and hog industries. They would be exempt from having to pay potential fines of up to $27,500 a day for violations either in the past or over the next four years.

2. LOL!
That's about the gist of it. The corporate farm pollution is a huge problem that a lot of people are unaware of. When I read RFK, Jr's Crimes Against Nature it was a real eye-opener.

3. To insure clean food for your family, consider joining a CSA
CSA = Community Supported Agriculture, or more simply community farms.

You invest in a share of the harvest from a local farm, and the farm feeds you and your family with clean, locally grown food. there are now about 2,500 of these farms in the USA -- and they work. They save families money, they establish and maintain healthy environmental oases in cities and suburbs, and they yeild CLEAN FOOD.
