This fine piece from a long-exiled NOLA DUer who will soon be returning (!) ended up in the Alito forum from back when it was still GD.

Basically the concern is that, with the Baker buyout bill likely dead, speculators now have free rein to swoop in and buy up NOLA properties for pennies on the dollar. It would not surprise either of us if these speculators turned out to be Bush**-connected, either.
