Did Congress officially declare war against Iraq?
Did the Congress OFFICIALLY declare War against Iraq?

Since Congress only approved the use of force, then we are not officially at war. We call them enemy combatants. We can hold them indefinitely. We don't need to pay attention to the Geneva Convention. We are not officially at war. Yet all of the defenders of Bush keep saying....."We are at WAR! He is doing what the American people expect him to. He is defending America! We are at war!"

We did not declare war. Congress only approved the use of force.

Hannity today today was arguing with a congressman, defending Bush's wire taps because we are at war! Bush does not have the right to assume authority because we did not declare war.
We are not holding POW's at Guantanamo. We are holding enemy combatants. POW's are a result of a real war.

How stupid do they think people are. They change semantics and expect forgiveness for enabling the Bush Regime. Enabling.....Bush should be a good recipient of that. He has been there. No wonder Laura looks comotose....she has given in too many times and created a monster...............

on edit-- the "war" he referred to is not the war against Iraq-- it's the even more scamilicious "war on terror." The war that is completely made up by the WH.

4. All of the "legal" argument is premised on a war, but legally, we aren't
at war. Metaphorically, yes, but until the people's reps declare it, we aren't.

7. no declaration of war since 1941 = congress as incompetents
the US has had so many wars and invasions since 1941 it is hard to keep track, and none of them have
come as a congressional declaration of war since 1941. The many congresses since then, no matter
what party controlled it, have abdicated their constitutional authority to declare war and
given it to the president of the day.

8. However
because Congress did not declare war, The War Powers Act that the Bushies are trumpeting as defense for their spying does not apply.
