You guys repeated over and over that Democrats did NOT take any Abramoff money, only tribal money from a relationship with the tribes that was going on before Abramoff ever got involved.

Because you repeated it over and over, and proved it to boot, I was able to counteract the misinformation at a meeting with other Dems yesterday morning. A woman who has run for office in our area had bought the line that Harry Reid was as dirty as the rest of them. I was able to put her straight. She was quite appreciative actually.

Interesting crowd, my group of Dems in this area. It suddenly dawned on me, as a purple state, that the Dems here are somewhat moderate. Y'all would call them Conservative. The Republicans would, on the other hand, call them Communists. Whatcha gonna do.

But anyway, thanks for keeping me informed so that I can help keep my fellow Dem folk here informed.

2. That's why we're here

Forget all the other crap -- the in-fighting, the personality issues with candidates, the screams of "Treason, Sir, Treason!". DU is about supporting Democracy and Democrats.

Most people, in general, at the state and local levels, play the Press' "Let's Split The Difference" game, sometimes known as "A Pox On Both Your Chickens". It's allowed the power players (like the Straussian neo-Cons) within the GOP to control politics since the end of World War Two, with only about a five-year break from 1973-1978.

This clarity isn't just important for Democratic organizing and winning -- it will become vital when the Republican Party tries to purge itself of its criminals over the next several years. In some ways, we're all in this together, Democrats, Republicans, and minoritarians alike. The truth helps us all.
