Stevens will pull Katrina and LIHEAP from Defense bill if cloture fails!
How rotten is this?!? If he doesn't get his way--adding drilling in ANWR to the defense bill--this is exactly what he has promised to do.

Senator Durbin said yesterday that the Governor of Alaska will be able to unilaterally abrogate this agreement to share oil profits for Hurricane Katrina relief--so they are liars to boot! Not a surprise though, is it?

2. Stevens needs an intervention
There's not enough oil there to last more than a few months. What is this fucker's problem?

5. "share oil profits for Hurricane Katrina relief"
What's that about? There won't be any profits from ANWR for years -- there's too much development to be done, complicated by the melting of the permafrost, to see anything from there in 10 years. How is ANWR supposed to help Katrina relief?
