Bushco Attacks Syria?
Syria has accused the United States of launching lethal military raids into its territory from Iraq, escalating the diplomatic crisis between the two countries as the Bush administration seeks to step up pressure on President Bashar Assad's regime.

4. Attack with what?

The troops we have in Iraq are too few to hold that country down. Do we take some of them and deploy them against Syria? The supply line situation alone would be a nightmare.

Deploy another 100K or so troops from the U.S.? That doesn't seem politically feasible. Use the IDF? Well, I guess that would make the End-Timers happy.

I just don't see a U.S. assault on Syria as feasible in the long run. Short run, maybe.

6. Doesn't he (or we) have enough going
on without starting another war? Insane... he's insane and needs to be removed from office yesterday.

7. I read of an earlier attack onto Syrian territory as well.
Nice way to divert attention from Iraq...more "democracy" spreading?

8. No way - there are no troops to do it with
Unless he wants to go nuclear, in which case he might as well just jump into a big pile of dung for all the good it will do him -- he'll be finished politically, historically and socially (to say nothing of what it will do to countless innocent Syrians and anyone else in the vicinity).

9. US has not attacked a country with a legitimate Air Force since
WW2. Iraq's was a joke even in Gulf War 1.
Syria and Iran have working Air Forces and I think that is what has kept us out of those countries so far.
Potential huge casualty risks.

11. So, where will we get all the soldiers to fight all these wars?
We don't have enough soldiers on the ground to do the job in Iraq, and the PNAC crowd is ready for their Syria stunt? How do they expect to pull this off with two wars already raging?

And still no Osama....

12. I'm telling you, Syria is this war's Cambodia.
There's been major fighting at the border, and I cannot believe our forces haven't crossed the line already.
