How come they aren't any Dem words for smearing someone
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 03:08 PM by soleft
The Repubs have Swiftboating, and "He got Roved"

I don't spend time at freak republic, so maybe they do say shit like so and so got Brooked, or - wow, another victim of Sorossing.

Are we so bad at viciously attacking people that we don't even have a vocabulary for it?

Come on people!

:sarcasm:

2. Yes, we are, and for good reason
We are on the side of truth, not the side of smears. We don't viciously attack someone, we give the public the facts on them. We follow the law and the Constitution. And I'm glad of that!

3. Sure we do. Ours is even older than theirs...

Or have you never heard of someone being refered to as having been "Borked"

On edit: I should point out that there is a huge difference between being "Borked" and "Swiftboated."

The swift boat crap was entirely based on lies and innuendo. Meanwhile, Robert Bork was shafted because he was a right-wing ideologue who watned to take America into the Stone Age.

So, even when we destroy someone's political career, we do it because of who they are, not because of who we pretend they are. But don't think for a second that Democrats don't destroy Republicans when they need to or should. This is politics. There's no room for niceties.

People who are too nice in Washington don't last long. They burn out and either quit or go the way of Vince Foster. Remember what we said in his suicide note? That he couldn't live in a place where destroying someone's life was considered "sport."

I was around 10 years old around the time of the Bork hearing. But what can I say? I'm a political junkie.

7. And "Swiftboated" isn't a Dem. meme?
There is a difference between the two, though. Absolutely. See my edited posting.

10. Perhaps because it is simply irresponsible to use such word games
when such actions taken by others seem responsible for the deaths and or disfigurement of thousands of human lives?

Are such positions honestly seen as nothing more than playing games?

11. Why would we want to attack people for anything other than their
actions. They are lost because they are the adolescents of the world. The dreamers and utopians and cold hearted group-thinkers. They appeal to the baser instincts of their followers. Dems do not.

Why would we ape them.

Do you think people were outraged at Katrina as children? No - that was adult outrage.

We have no words because we use the truth not some technique of myth-making.

We use words like competence. Truth. Public good. Fairness. Justice. Cronyism. All thise the Bushes are guity of doing or doing in.

16. Okay good. Sometimes people at the DU try and get us to use & ape
the GOP words. And that drives me nuts because they are loosing and the adults are winning with adult might, intellect, empathy, honestry and truth.
