Heh heh. Right-wing implosion: Senators Vote 90-9 to Aid Terrorists

Wouldn’t you go absolutely ballistic if you read the following headlines?

“SENATORS VOTE 90-9 TO AID TERRORISTS”

or

“U.S. SENATE SUPPORTS RIGHT OF TERRORISTS TO BOMB U.S. TARGETS”

or

“SENATORS SAY U.S. TROOPS ARE ‘BARBARIC’ AND ‘INHUMANE’”


Yet these headlines describe what the U.S. Senate did just days ago!

The GOP-controlled Senate added an amendment to the $440-billion military spending bill that would extend to spies, terrorists, and Islamic jihadists the same rights U.S. citizens enjoy under the Constitution.

In other words, our military interrogators can no longer question suspected suicide bombers and murderers of women and children without the ACLU looking over their shoulder -- ready to haul some poor enlisted man into court just because he yelled at a terrorist or hurt a terrorist’s feelings.

If the Senate had done such a despicable thing during World War II, the American people would have stormed the Capitol, tarred and feathered all who voted for such treachery, and ridden them out of town on a rail.

This evil, suicidal bill – if implemented – would expose Americans to the greatest danger in the history of our nation: The planting of explosives on our subways. Suicide bombers killing American women and children. Airline hijackings. Assassinations.

Do you realize that not a single terrorist attack has occurred on American soil since 9/11 – despite the dark, dire predictions of the political know-it-alls.

You know why? Because our worldwide intelligence operation has discovered and exposed plot after plot to kill Americans, both abroad and at home.

You may be alive today because some interrogator wasn’t too fastidious about how he got his information from some proud, smirking jihadist.

3. Suspected Suicide Bombers?

How can you be a "Suspected Suicide Bomber?"

I mean, either you are a mangled scattering of shrapnel-torn body parts strewn across a check-point, or you aren't.

It's pretty easy to tell the difference.

6. Twisted bit of logic, that. Good on McCain for making it happen.

He gets a cookie.

It's hard to look a former POW in the eye and tell him you think it's okay for other POWs to get tortured.

Not to mention it's a pretty lousy way to gather info. Shit, I'd tell them I was a terrorist if it meant they'd stop hurting me.

What these folks don't realize is that what we do to prisoners of war, other countries will do to us when the time comes.

This is as much to PROTECT our troops.

Odd how these folks talk out of both sides of their mouth though. The Abu Ghraib gang was just a bunch of merry pranksters, but don't tell us what they did was wrong, and that we can't do it again.

7. Here's an idea for how to deal with the torture issue

If it's important enough to torture someone, then it's important enough for you to go to jail for torturing them (or giving the order to torture them).

If someone fired a bullet at the president, some Secret Service guy is expected to throw himself in front of the bullet, and possibly die.

If a suspect has information about a terrorist threat, then that same secret service agent should be willing to go to jail for torturing that suspect-- whether the lead pans-out or not.

And the president himself has taken an oath to defend this country. If the president feels someone needs to be tortured for the good of the country, then that president had better turn himself in to law enforcement for ordering torture.
