"George W. Bush's Not So Terrible Week": The Weekly Standard

Best to know your enemy and how they are thinking....or in this case, spinning.:-)

George W. Bush's
Not So Terrible Week
The Bush administration's second-term bear market has bottomed out
by William Kristol
11/07/2005, Volume 011, Issue 08

<snip>

The administration and its allies have a chance now to go on the offensive: to make the tax cuts permanent, to look for occasions to insist on spending restraint, to make progress in restoring constitutional jurisprudence, and above all to make strides toward winning the war in Iraq, and the broader war on terror.

With the dénouement of the Miers fiasco and the Fitzgerald investigation, President Bush's beaten-down political fortunes should be ripe for a rebound. As we've said before, the recipe for starting a rally is straightforward: Get back to basics on the economy, the courts, and foreign policy. Go on the offensive in all of these areas. To regain the ground that was lost and to forge further ahead will require energy, discipline, and boldness from the Bush administration, and from the president himself.

6. Yep...
Tax cuts for the wealthy don't really help most of us a whole lot. I'm not suffering, but I sure as hell would rather see tax money go to help the less fortunate among us, than further enriching the already bloated fat cats. Rescind the tax breaks for the top tax brackets. It will not hurt them, it will not cause them to go hungry, or choose between heat and medicine this winter. Making those cuts permanent, however, will very much hurt the ones of us who can least afford it.

I'm tired of a government, and it's supporters, grinding the weaker members of society into the ground. This is not what a moral society does. A moral, righteous society leaves sexual preference something between consenting adults, and directs it's energies to elevating the poor, the very young, the very old, and the disabled.

After 5 years of spewing right wing talking points about the tax cuts for the rich somehow helping the economy, I think we can all see the lies in that reasoning. Tax cuts for the rich benefit the rich, because they are the ones Bush wants to reward. He doesn't care about the rest of us, unless we are willing to enlist and fight an illegal and immoral war to pander to his already inflated sense of his own grandeur.

He is a corrupt, arrogant, spoiled, pampered, vicious, hateful little person. The sooner he is out of public office, the sooner we can mend this enormous rift in our nation, and get back to the kind of society our Founding Fathers had in mind.

5. I think bush has been about as offensive as a person can get.
It hasn't been working.

Take your cheerleading tripe somewhere else, Kristol, you sound like a hollow windbag gasping your last rah-rah.

8. If they'd been around in 1945
they'd be saying "Any minute now the fuehrer will emerge from the bunker, refreshed and ready to push back the invaders..."

I especially was amused by this part....

"To regain the ground that was lost and to forge further ahead will require energy, discipline, and boldness from the Bush administration, and from the president himself."
Too bad pResident Fucko's a lazy, corrupt, cowardly drunk...
