Poll question: Disturbing changes in America?
Boy, oh boy.... I could have just listed the changes in my country that I find disturbing.... the ones that it will take us years to fix.
But I thought I'd list them and let you pick your "favorite"

4. The most disturbing change: fundamentalist takeover of the GOP.
It's absolutely insane that, in the 21st century, we're still fighting to keep religious creation stories out of science class in the public schools.

6. The merger of the religious right, the corporatocracy, and the GOP.
The emergence of a theocratic corporate fascism. That, and the end of a genuinely free and independent press is the most disturbing thing to me. The complete obliviousness of the American people and the ease with which they get sucked up into it is disturbing as well.

8. It will only dawn on them when they can't pay the bills
it takes affluence, economic security to vote as arrogantly as they did in the red states in '04 playing to the holier than thou fake moral issues. But when the bills come n and they can't pay them maybe they will think twice about the neocon crap about globalization, busting up unions, tax cuts for the fat cats, and maybe send less money to the tele-ho's crusades.

then again maybe not...I always have great hope for the people but never underestimate the stupidity of large groups.

9. Or they'll just react by needing a scapegoat even more
and fall even more into blaming and hating "them librul". I probably have less faith in human nature than you.

11. Other: The rejection of environmental responsibility.
In the 70's America was in the forefront of realizing the need for taking care of our only home. Since 1980 greed and ignorance have continually eroded this enlightened and necessary for survival position with the Clinton administration slowing but not stopping the descent into madness. I had hoped for so much more from Clinton.;(

The current gang of pigs is beyond the pall. Their consuming greed and apparent hatred of Nature is shocking in it's intensity. Their willingness to trash all before they are driven from power reveals self destructive insanity. The will be reviled by humankind when mere everyday monsters are long forgotten.
