2. well, look at it this way
If looks were all that mattered, Edwards or Clark would have sewn up the nomination by now. Or the Dems would run Pamela Anderson or Britney Spears or someone.

Not that they aren't also great in other ways--my point is just that people aren't as influenced by looks as one might think.

I've got plenty to say about the issues. It wasn't my idea that he invest the time and money in re-inventing himself. It was his.

if you ever went into a TV studio you'd be shocked by the amount of makeup you have to wear when you're on TV. The problem is that the makeup looks awful in person.

Funny pictures though.

22. Kerry looks so good because he is so happy after two great wins...
Am sure a huge weight was lifted after his Iowa win, and then the NH win only added to his apparent joy.

I was told by someone who saw him at UCLA last year that he was quite handsome in person, charismatic...an articulate and persuasive speaker.

People who bring up this kind of s*** ought to be ashamed and embarrassed. Posts like this ought to be beneath us all here at DU.

I just don't think it's possible for ANYONE to look as bad as Senator Kennedy does in this picture (By comparison). I can only assume it's make-up on Senator Kerry making him look better? Or maybe he's just real tan. And I hope he's not wearing lipstick?

In any event, who gives a shit? JFK WON an election because he wore make-up.

Gee I wish he has served his country and won some medals. That might impress people. Also, it would help if he had, maybe, taken on a sitting president. Like twice. Yeah, yeah, that would do it.

JFK refused make-up. Tricky Dick was just recovering from pneumonia (I think). When he saw JFK refuse the make-up, he did too, even though he looked pretty ghastly. Anyhoo, that's always been the urban legend.

43. That is correct
He always kept a tan. Nixon didn't want to appear "weak" by accepting the make-up in the debates. It was a big mistake - Nixon looked washed out, pale, and sickly. Kennedy looked tanned, healthy, and strong.

So :wtf:

He couldn't smile if he were botoxed, so your smear is without merit.

How about this: He's happy. He has stuff to smile about instead of being near the back of the pack.

35. He said we should keep kicking this thread to perpetuate the smear.
Just kidding. He played the clip of an AM radio interview where he was asked if he used botox. Kerry said, "Absolutely not. This is the first I've heard of it." Rush had to parse his use of the word "it" to make it sound like he had never heard of botox.

But as you well know, botox paralyzes muscles, which he would use to smile, raise his eyebrows, etc., which he did repeatedly last night. So what you suggest is impossible.

His face looked like a giant powder-puff ball. Like when they show those old tv personalities with the ultra soft lens to hide all of the wrinkles. Dan Rather is the worst.
