6. yes after coming out and lashing out at...
the other one and criticizing everything he's ever done, giving the repugs more ammo, just like they did in 04.

10. And your solution is...?
Don't have primaries? Let party leaders coronate our candidates?

No thanks. A spirited primary is merely good training for the main event of kicking Republican ass.

19. I hate to see so much cash spent during the primaries that could be used
against the deep-pocketed repugs

2. Hackett and Brown will be in the primary.
One of them will win the Democratic nomination.

They won't split the vote.

3. they still have to go through a primary so how is it splitting the vote?
Does Ohio skip the primary and let them both run for the seat?

8. hackett and brown aren't ones to cut each other
Brown did go down to visit Hackett and supplied him with netroots support through grow ohio and swing state project. At first, I thought this was perplexing but if it was just Hackett it would be a very very ho hum primary. with Brown and Hackett debating and engaging, there will be excitement to the primary and give the race more profile. I rest my hopes that these two will run a may the best man win campaign. and in the end, one will endorse the other and together, build and grow the Ohio progressive, moderate, liberal majority.

11. Well, I hope they both run a SMART CAMPAIGN and criticize
the "Culture of Corruption". There's plenty to shoot bullets at the GOP with while offering their individual ideas...all without even so much as a peep of negativity toward their Democratic opponent.

Let the voters decide who has the better ideas, but keep the message of a better alternative than the GOP and it will only be a win/win situation for all.

14. Sorry, but Hackett just isn't qualified for Senate.
Brown has a long track record as an effective legislator and all around ass kicker. (Remember him tearing Colin Powell a new one in open session?) He can beat DeWine, as he has a high statewide profile like very few Northeast Dems do. Hackett has zero legislative experience. If I were him, I'd be dropping this Senate shit in favor of Brown, moving north, and snatching up the congressional seat Brown will be leaving open, which I have no doubt he could *easily* do.

And by the way, there was never "nobody." It's LONG been known that Brown was likely to go after DeWine, he only just confirmed it officially.

16. Why did Brown tell Hackett that the Dem nomination was his?
If Brown didn't assure Hackett that he wasn't running for the Senate seat, Hackett would not have announced to the whole world the start of his campaign. Now Hackett is made to look like a fool. Brown was a complete dimtwit for doing that.

17. I'm not aware of that.
You have a link for that? I'd be interested to read it. I'd dispute that Hackett was made to look like a fool, though, there's competiition in primaries all the time, it's why we hold them.

20. Thank you.
I hope they hash this out privately so the primaries don't turn into a huge beef that hurts the eventual nominee.

15. It's not splitting the primary, but Brown's move bothers me, anyway
Brown assured Hackett that he wouldn't be running for the Senate seat, then does an about face. In other words, Brown lied, and probably created a division in Ohio Democratic ranks.

I would prefer if Hackett and Brown were running for two different seats. Now both are running for the same seat.
