I'm ABAR for 2006 and 2008
Anybody But A Republican

After spending the past four years, eight months, six days, twenty-three hours, and fifty-four minutes subjected to the tyranny of the Busheviks, it won't matter much to me who gets picked in the primaries, I'm voting straight Democratic tickets regardless.

I'm saying it now because I know there will be the eventual in-fighting, bickering, and general bullshit as we get closer to the '08 primaries, but really, starting right now, I'm going to try to rise above all of that beginning right now.

Yes, I'll pick a favorite (or five) for 2008 and will even cast a primary vote for a favorite candidate. When it comes down to it, though, I know without any doubt I will be voting for the Democratic candidate regardless of whom that may be.

And I am taking this pledge now (because I am probably one of the worst offenders on DU), from this point forward, if I can't say something nice about an elected Democrat or a Democratic candidate (save the words "I'm disappointed in X" and the caveat that Lyndon Larouche is not a Democrat regardless of any claims to the contrary), I'm going to do my damnedest to say nothing at all.

I am saving any real criticism for after the time we throw out the Bushevik Neo-cons. I'm going to spend my time building up Democratic candidates and elected officials rather than tearing them down.

Flame away.

1. No flames here.
That's my philosophy exactly. Even a weak Dem is much better than a strong Puke.

3. I go a step further with Congressional candidates
even a Conservative Dem is better than a Liberal Republican because of the numbers games in Congressional delegations.

4. No flame here. I'll vote for DINOs in a heartbeat...
if it means a Democratic majority in either house of Congress.

7. Non-flamer here, Walt. In 2008 my vote goes to --
-- the Democratic ticket, period.

Like you, I will have a hierarchy of favorites in the primary, but the Republicans are disgraceful public servants and need to be tossed out on their fascist butts.

Excellent post, as usual. Thank you.

9. Sounds like a plan, Walt
I'll work hard for my candidate, work even harder to help progressive Dems in primaries (c'mon Connecticut!), and try my best to convince folks that my candidate is the one to vote for.

Come Election Day, however, anyone with a (D) that is running against anyone with an (R) gets my vote.

10. Since teh Republicans have overthrown the Eleventh Commandment
I'm instating it for at least myself.

I shall not speak ill of Democratic candidates or elected officials.

11. Yellow Dog Dem
I'll vote for a yellow dog before I vote republican. I will reserve the right to tout the positive attributes of my Democratic nominee, as I did in 2004. And if another is chosen, as it was in 2004, I will support him or her. But I do reserve the right to discuss the merits of all candidates before the nominating process. And I hope that that process is changed so that Iowa isn't the only caucus or primary that decides who the nominee is.
