Is "Burning Love" a good song to blare from loudspeakers at a 9/11 event?
Because that's what they just did along the route of the "America Supports You Freedom Walk".

Lord almighty,
I feel my temperature rising
Higher higher
It’s burning through to my soul

Girl, girl, girl
You gonna set me on fire
My brain is flaming
I don’t know which way to go

Your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love

Ooh, ooh, ooh,
I feel my temperature rising
Help me, I’m flaming
I must be a hundred and nine
Burning, burning, burning
And nothing can cool me
I just might turn into smoke
But I feel fine

Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like a sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love

It’s coming closer
The flames are reaching my body
Please won’t you help me
I feel like I’m slipping away
It’s hard to breath
And my chest is a-heaving

Lord almighty,
I’m burning a hole where I lay
Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love
With burning love
Ah, ah, burning love
I’m just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love

1. Geez, if they're gonna play that, why not follow it up with...
"Free falling" from Tom Petty?

Seems like a strange song to play for an event like this, given the circumstances of the disaster - fire, and people burning to death, etc...

3. lol....Poor Poor Pitiful Me is also a head scratcher
Verses that hint at suicide, being man handled/rough sex (Hello Jeff!)? The last verse of the Zevon original was about S&M. Republican family values!

I'd advise you to watch that instead of the DOD propagandist grave-dancing Parade of Fools.

"I'm a hunk of burning love"??!!??

What the fuck??

If I were one of the victims family members, I'd be pissed right now. That's insulting.

8. Appalling!
"Burning Love" playing at a 9-11 rememberance march? Pray tell, just where exactly did this abomination take place, norml??

That's about as sensitive as that Faux TV news anchor was this morning when she talked about Americans "celebrating 9-11"... and, no, I'm not kidding.

9. Followed by "I fell in to a burnin' ring of fire"?
Seems appropriate.

11. This whole event seems other-worldly.
I mean, how divorced from reality can one administration be?

First, ignore the memo. Then sit and read a kids book while thousands are dying.

Fast-forward to: ignore the memo. Then strum a guitar and eat cake and plan a parade for the deaths of 3,000 while yet another several thousand are dying.

Weird. Weird. Weird.

to get them to pad the numbers of people joining their march. (I wonder if the flying Elvis's are there too?)

13. While hundreds of thousands are homeless, while thousands of bodies
lay scattered throughout New Orleans, while thousands of children and families remain torn apart, while toxic waste and disease infests a once thriving city, while an entire American city remains in shambles, we have a parade (within two weeks of the destruction) to honor the country and its leader???? The unending callousness of this administration will never again surprise me. A parade is inappropriate less than two weeks after hundreds of thousands of American citizens were devastated. The group organizing this should have canceled and sent the money to the Hurricane Katrina refugees.

14. I was wondering what was happening with this pentagon pr stunt
am guessing that it will be much less well attended than would have been the case a month ago. Have to wonder how many of the "smaller local events across the country" are occuring. I haven't read of any in my neck of the woods (midwest redstate.)

These people are devoid of campassion or even just respectful consideration of victims and their significant others. Jeepers!.
