Are any private citizens able to get in to New Orleans to render help?
If anyone has been able to get into New Orleans to drop off help of any kind, please post. If we have someone who can get in and out, then we can probably round up some people here who can buy supplies to load up a vehicle and deliver to folks trapped in New Orleans.

It's clear our government is totally incapable of handling the situation, and all they want to do is cover up their screw up. If the government can't do the job, WE can if we can get people in to make deliveries.

Water is critical. If people don't get water soon, they will die. That's the bottom line. Food would be helpful as well.

They key is can we get a volunteer in there to deliver needed supplies to places like the Convention Center where the need is dire. If we can get supplies in, we can take some people out, as well.

So, if ANYONE has been able to get in and out of New Orleans, please post.

2. I did.
The problem is the money is not getting water to people. The government isn't either.

There's got to be a way to get around this ridiculous situation - people are going to die.

Do you have any better ideas? Short of just letting people die?

3. We are heading out to pick up folks in Houston and transport them to
where they want to go...that is the ones who have a place to go. I am trying to find out how much it costs to charter a bus to go there and pick up as many families as possible. Also, contacted a distant relative in Houston and asked them to go pick up at least one small family to house them and we (hubby and I) would send them money to defray expenses until the family can get on its feet. Even if we can't charter the bus we will drive to Houston and offer transportation to east coast cities.
