Bush asks Father and Clinton for help
Bush Taps Father, Clinton for Relief Help

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer
UPDATED 30 MINUTES AGO

WASHINGTON - President Bush will tour the hurricane devastated Gulf Coast region on Friday and has asked his father, former President George H.W. Bush, and former President Clinton to lead a private fund-raising campaign for victims, the White House said Thursday.
Bush: "I hope people don't ... play politics during this period of time," he said. "This is a natural disaster _ the likes of which our country may have never seen before _ and it's a national emergency. And what we need to do as a nation is come together to solve the problem and not play politics. There'll be ample time for politics."

2. Don't play politics!
In other words, quit bringing up my cuts for shoring up the levees, the fact that it's been FOUR DAYS and no relief has come, the fact that it took me THREE DAYS to even address the issue.

Freedom is on the march!

15. And Louisiana isn't helping itself right now and that's why
it's been FOUR DAYS and LITTLE HELP from the federal government?

Good try buddy, I need a link on that.

4. Clinton again....Clinton should take this guy to the woodshed ...
publicly for once and for all and show some anger instead of PANSY-ASSED acceptance of this destruction of building up FEMA before he goes anywhere. He should run it out of his OWN FOUNDATION--no ties to Bushco!!

I am so livid that even this angers me....always someone to enable Bush...

5. I've had enough of Clinton
If he can't call Bush out on his NEGLIGENCE at this point, fuck him.

He deserves to go down too if can't see the reality. Bush sat on his ass on vacation eating cake and playinga guitar, an now is letting those people died.

8. I loved Clinton as a President.

But my feeling is that he'd "go to the opening of an envelope" if he thought it would put him in the spotlight. That being said if he can help I hope he goes.

10. Don't get me wrong
I certainly wish he were there in place of Bush. If he were president, I seriously doubt it would have taken this long to respond.

But at this point, I don't think I could manage to show any respect for anyone that allows themself used a prop for Bush's propaganda.

9. Had enough of Clinton?
So, he shouldn't raise millions of dollars for the victims of the hurricane?

11. Certainly he should
but I don't want to see smiling and posing pictures with him and Bush. That's what I've had enough of - him letting himself used as a cheap prop in propaganda for this administration.

6. Right now, it'd be better for the country if Clinton did help.
Look, I know it's not his job; the point RIGHT NOW is not what Bush needs or doesn't need. It's about the American people right now.

Face facts: Bush is not a reassuring figure to many of us; Clinton is. Bush is the face of the administration that cut the very program that could have saved NO by 44% just this past June. Clinton is the face of an administration that tried to ameliorate flooding dangers by placing strict regulations on wetlands management (subsequently dismantled by Bush.) Bush is the "Texan" from Connecticut whose efforts to wrest the silver spoon out of his own mouth embarass us all; Clinton is the Arkansasan who grew up with a single mom.

There are Americans--Americans!--living (and dying) with no food & water, no hope, no help, and no protection. Right or wrong, Clinton may be able to speak to them in a way that Bush might not. To my mind, that's more important than any political positioning.

12. This just goes to show
that Bush can't do a damn thing on his own. He always either needs daddy or Karl Rove and when he's in trouble with his poll raitings and people are mad at him he brings in Clinton cause he knows people still really love and admire Clinton. What a prick. Don't play politics my ass. That's exactly what he is doing.

16. I wish The Big Dog would do these stunts without that albatross
around his neck, but, of course, they don't want to give up the spotlight to him.

Uh...why isn't it Junior who's touring with Bill?
