Kerry Lead Shrinks to Three Points in New Hampshire
Just in case The Boston Globe is your only news source...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=584&e=1&u=/nm/20040126/pl_nm/campaign_poll_dc

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Reuters) - Democratic presidential contender John Kerry holds a shrinking three-point lead over Howard Dean on the eve of the New Hampshire primary, according to a Reuters/MSNBC/Zogby poll released Monday.

Dean shaved four points off Kerry's advantage in the latest three-day tracking poll, as supporters who wavered after his dismal third-place Iowa finish and screaming concession speech appeared to be returning to the fold.

Kerry led Dean 31 percent to 28 percent in the new poll, with John Edwards jumping three points to narrowly trail Wesley Clark for third place, 13 percent to 12 percent. Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman remained static at 9 percent.

"There is no question that the race has tightened up," pollster John Zogby said. "Dean stopped the bleeding in the middle of the week and he has slowly regained some of the support he had lost."

2. Great news
Someone has got to stop the raid on the public Treasury by those that have gamed the system.

A lot of people heard about the SCREAM long before they actually saw it. It was totally misrepresented with great amplification. I am glad to see the troops rally.

I read DU all the time and the reports that came in here as it just ended acted like the man had gone bonkers. He was just saying we are going on. We are going on all the way to the White House. He was totally slandered.

4. This is no "he said - she said" deal
We will know tomorrow night which of the polls were closest to right.

I heard that neocon Bill Kristol said "I wish I had the guts - Dean could actually win this thing." He predicted Kerry "by less than seven points" in the end, though.

Several commentators have been talking about pressure on Dean to withdraw if he doesn't win. I don't understand that. He has plenty of money, double in the bank what anybody else has raised in total. He has had organizations for months in most of the states through Super Tuesday, where most of the others are just getting started.

I'm still uncommitted, but I think the pundits are too quick to write off Dean, just as I thought they were too quick to pronounce him annointed last year.

Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 06:50 AM by papau
but who knows which pollester has the right model

the snow will hold off past the poll closing - I think - so Kerry old folks will be voting.

Zogby of "Dean within 3" fame now says high single digits margin for Kerry win.

We'll see in 18 hours!

:-)
