What I still don't understand is why they were so desperate to invade Iraq that they went to such extraordinary lengths to do it. They were already making money off sanctions-busting. There's dirt out there we haven't uncovered yet that explains it all. Keep digging, folks.

This article was pretty revealing:

1. Halliburton profits up 300%
...or something like that, I forget the exact figure.

Is that reason enough?

3. Greedy, dirty bastards. That's all it is. As Randi Rhodes keep saying..
it's about the green and gold. Period. It's a racquet. These guys belong under the jail. They are disgraceful. We've got to get the message out. People are starting to wake up. We have got three years to make them realize what the republican party is doing not only to our country. But to the world.

4. Here's an old DU thread that also goes pretty in-depth on these issues.
WHY does this stuff fall between the cracks when it's so friggin' damning?

You would think that people this freaking crooked would be exposed and ridiculed, when the exact opposite seems to occur. What's up with that? And how the heck has BushCo gotten such control over the media that they don't even whisper about these issues?

5. I couldn't read the article.

It was all crammed together. My eyes just aren't that great. Is there a version that is easier to read somewhere?

6. I think we have a system that needs a serious overhaul.
A system that values truth and learning above anything else.

We have somehow gotten to a place where America's definition of success revolves primarily around greed, wealth and consumption of material things and I believe that is what is destroying our country.

I think we have to begin to start confronting the myths that anyone can be as successful as Bill Gates or whatever myths that we pump into children, and replace them with other more principled definitions of success.

It seems capitalism has become a sort of monster that has begun eating itself and with it, it's eating us.

Just some thoughts**

9. So true...
<<We have somehow gotten to a place where America's definition of success revolves primarily around greed, wealth and consumption of material things and I believe that is what is destroying our country.>>

And yet, the majority of Americans consider themselves Christians. These folks have obviously never read their Bibles.

10. Bush 1 was an employee & investor of the Carlyle Group - the #11
defense contractor. He quit before the election campaign got heated up, but it's impossible to find out if he's still invested in it. So here is a direct link to defense money and the * family.

Now, should these clowns get a hold of 90% of the world's oil and give them to the US oil companies, how grateful do you think the oil companies will be to * and the repub party. Chaney worked for Halliburton for 5 years I think and is getting $1 million a year. I think he still has all those stock options he was suppose to get rid of. And once peak oil hits, how much money and control of the world do you think the oil barons will have? They will be able to control the lives of entire continents.
