Zogby on CNBC: Kerry trending up Monday (Dean #2 / Edwards #3)
John Zogby was on Special Report with Maria B and says Kerry looks poised for a high single digit victory over Dean, with Edwards in the #3 spot, though said there was still a lot of undecided voters.

1. funny that's not what his poll shows...
I'm inclined to belive the pollsters don't know what the hell they are doing half of the time.

8. Yes, that would be the half of the time
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 07:20 PM by HazMat
they talk about 'statistical dead heat' when their own 'numbers behind the numbers' showed Kerry ahead in IA and now way ahead in NH. Sometimes I wonder if some of these polling companies (especially Zogby) are in bed with the media and more interested in ratings than in the truth. A close race gives them that, even if one doesn't exist.

2. Nice
Because, IIRC, Zogby's was the one major poll that showed the race closing. Most polls show Kerry with a huge lead.

5. Kerry should thank Zogby for that "narrowing poll number" thing!
By reporting the results of only one day of a 3 day tracking poll (200 people, with a 10% MOE), Kerry was able to become the underdog AGAIN... that's when the $ pours in and the voters become determined.

7. Zogby Is More Interested In Memes Than Legitimate Polling
As someone who has done post grad work in Poli Sci and has relied on polling it's distressing to see pollsters turn the field into a joke....

9. Zogby is a joke
and I suspect he came out with that 'close' poll showing 'Dean closing in' simply to satisfy his media masters who want a close race for better ratings.

11. His Devotees Will Tell You He Nailed The 00 Campaign
Well so did CBS, Harriss, and Newsweek...

And it was practically a statistical tie...I think Gore beat Simian Boy by .06%...

15. If Zogby's numbers are to be believed
then maybe Dean's negative misleading attacks about Kerry and Iraq over the past few days worked the same way they did in Iowa... turned the voters off Dean. Americans, Democrats are tired of bush telling lies, why would they buy what Dean's selling... bush lite?
