From Harry Reid-questions about/for Roberts?
Maybe Roberts won't be a shoo-in?

Subject: Ask John Roberts

Dear Friend,

Last week President Bush nominated Judge John Roberts to the United States Supreme Court. Now the Senate will review Judge Roberts's record to determine if he has a demonstrated commitment to the core American values of freedom, equality and fairness. As part of this review he will have an opportunity to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee and make his case to the American people.

Seven of my colleagues, Senators Barbara Mikulski, Barbara Boxer, Patty Murray, Marry Landrieu, Debbie Stabenow, Maria Cantwell and Hillary Clinton, would like to give you the opportunity to have a voice in the process and propose your questions to be asked of Judge Roberts by the Senate Judiciary Committee. I have attached their message below -- please read it and then submit your questions by visiting:

http://democrats.senate.gov/askroberts

Thank you,

Harry Reid

P.S. Here is the message from my colleagues:

The Supreme Court has the last word on issues that impact all of our lives. It is the institution that we rely on to uphold fairness and justice and protect American values.

Judge John G. Roberts has been nominated to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. This is a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land. Americans are curious about where he stands on the issues that will impact their lives like the environment, their right to privacy, corporate and business practices, the education of their children, the health care of their families and their civil rights.

As Senators, we believe it shouldn't only be Senators that get to ask the questions this time around. We want the American people to have a voice. We want to know what you care about the most. Help us let the Judiciary Committee know the questions that are on every American's mind.

Thank you for your help!

Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski
Sen. Barbara Boxer
Sen. Patty Murray
Sen. Mary L. Landrieu
Sen. Debbie Stabenow
Sen. Maria Cantwell
Sen. Hillary Clinton

1. Thanks for posting
That is an awesome idea that they are doing that.

I bookmarked it, I need to think about this.
My first reaction is "Are you going to overturn Roe v Wade" but I want to go deeper than that.

3. I share your skepticism, but it'd be nice if the dems
dug a lot deeper to unearth whatever's down there.

4. I'm hoping that they do, but I'm not counting on it.
I think Roberts is hiding a lot of things.
