8. Welcome
We need you. The party apparatchik wants Dean, but with a lot of effort we can put it on a new path.

A Hartmann caller the other day said that he heard a wingnut call into a show and say that he disagreed with * on most issues, but still wants him to lead the country. I THINK Wesley is the guy who can penetrate that sort of mindset and get lots of independent and crossover support.

9. I have to agree.
When all this is said and done, we need someone who has the experience to end this obscenity.

I believe Clark is the man for the job.

11. Have to decide soon
I've been trying to be:

even-handed
open-minded
skeptical
rational
respectful of other opinions

but the Wisconsin Primary is coming on Feb17, and if I want to put my money where my mouth is and actively support a candidate, I'll have to decide soon.

This is going to be tough becasue among the top four, there are some really good choices.

12. I don't have a vote, not being American, but Clark inspires confidence!
There is something about the man....Every time I see him and listen to him, I get a feeling of calm....as if he'll make everything all right between the USA and the rest of the world.....Maybe it's because he's brilliant, worldly, compassionate....in other words everything Bush is NOT!

23. glarius,
that is exactly the way I feel too. He has a calming affect on me. He seems so self assured, compassionate, resolute in his beliefs and SINCERE. I wish you lived here and could vote and campaign for Wes! Thanks for your kind words. I and all Clarkies appreciate it! :loveya:

26. You're welcome.....I think the goodness shines through in his face.
Compare his open countenance with Bush and his sneaky little eyes that always look to me as if he's hiding something....

31. I agree with you glarius....
I am also not American, if I was I would be working my tail off for Clark right now.
I think that he is that man the world needs, incharge. I like Dean and Kerry but I have an image of Clark/Edwards.
Just think about it. Two handsome southern men, fit, healthy, sober, viral. Both with humble beginnings, both been highly successful at their careers, both brilliant. Next to Bush(Drunk, looks stupid, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, goes to bed at ten,Daddy bails him out of everything) and Cheney(Bad heart, fat and greedy lier.)

Clark #1 for me, Edwards a close second.

My primary is March 2. I look forward to voting for either one of these gentlemen, depending what the fates bring by then...

15. You might want to watch Democracy Now's tape of todays
show before you firm up your decision.

Yes, I am a Dean fan, but Clark was second on my list until I watched this show. Now my second choice would be Edwards

20. I just listenened to the video...did you not think he was open and forth
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 01:51 PM by glarius
coming in his answers?....In war bad things do happen and I get the feeling that he is so aware of the things that can happen and go wrong, that he would do everything in his power not to go to war, if he was president!
P.S....the reporter was really waylaying him and yet Clark stopped and answered his questions...More than most do...

21. Though I thought he had no choice but to be somewhat
"open and forthcoming" when they cornered him with details he could not deny, it his response to his admitted actions that bothers me. And in the end he resorts to the "war is not pretty, mistakes are made" argument. As if those mistakes can't reasonably be forseen, and other choices made because the cost is too high.

24. I would bet that every General & war time leader who is greatly admired
Edited on Mon Jan-26-04 02:12 PM by glarius
from the past (including Churchill), would not stand scrutiny and come out squeaky clean....I think sometimes decisions are made that they ALL regret later...It's human nature....This is not the same thing as leaders that deliberately set out to kill anyone and everyone who get's in their way, without any remorse whatsoever...I could be wrong, but that's my feeling...

25. No, not all mistakes can be foreseen
That has been my experience in life, is yours different? They can certainly be minimized by careful planning and general caution, but never eliminated. Clark likely would have made some different choices if he were Commander in Chief, and it was a unilateral U.S. action. HE did not have full authority, despite his lofty title. That is evident from the enemies he made inside the Pentagon for the measures that he did advocate. I firmly believe that Europe is a better place today, with less people suffering or mourning lost loved ones, because of the leadership that Clark did show. Some I know disagree.

32. I assume this is naivete
Clark answered the questions. You do not have to like the answers and I got the feeling that he didn't like them either, but they were the truth as he saw it, and apparently as the War Crimes Tribunal saw it as well.

Only a total naif would think Clark could not have avoided the interviewer if he wished. After the rally, for example, he simply turned his back on reporters because he wanted to talk to the voters. He could have done exactly the same with Scahill but he didn't. It was an important question and he answered it to the best of his ability.

Feel free to support candidates more to your liking, but don't criticise Clark for facing the truth of what happened, and doing so in public.

Do you honestly think for one second that Clark expected people to love him for what he did? You guys cry out for a man of character and strength and when he shows up you reject him. Go figure.

27. The transcript is here
If anyone prefers to read.

I thought it was terrific that Clark took the time in the crunch of the last day to answer as fully as he did. This was not a scheduled interview, but Clark insisted mid-campaign stop on answering this reporter. I hope they have a followup to it when there is more time to devote to this important subject.

wavering on that. But so far I'm leaning towards Edwards as a 2nd choice.
