Pete King (R-NY): "Karl Rove is the messenger...He did nothing wrong"

"When a person is being unfairly targeted, I'll defend them, no matter what side of the aisle they're on," King said.

Instead of Rove, King says, the crosshairs ought to be set on the news media who weren't tough enough on former Ambassador Joe Wilson, the husband of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame. Wilson has criticized Bush administration claims that Iraq attempted to obtain nuclear material from Niger.

"And I think people like Tim Russert and the others who gave this guy such a free ride, and all the media, they're the ones to be shot, not Karl Rove," King said Tuesday on MSNBC.

The congressman said he was making a literary allusion to Sophocles and Shakespeare about not shooting the messenger. "Karl Rove is the messenger," King said. "He did nothing wrong in telling the truth that Joe Wilson's wife was in the CIA."

1. Sure thing Pete just going after a nice Guy ........
...... good old Rove. He never hurt anyone. Just like this will not be on your
tomb stone:

<And certainly not Republican Congressional Representative Peter King, who made an equally notable video statement on the afternoon of November 2nd, long before the polls closed, in the course of a White House function that seemed to have put him into a celebratory mood. "It's already over," he told the interviewer. "The election's over. We won." Asked how he knew at that early hour, King replied: "It's all over but the counting. And we'll take care of the counting.">

2. Pete King is starting to sound like an un-indicted co-conspirator in an
obtruction of justice case.

3. Mr. King is lucky that the Dumbass is not a terminal disease!
Or he would be long dead. As it is, he will wander mouthing bits of wisdom such as this.

4. This Is What T's Me Off Against The MSM......
when Petey is being interviewed and spewing this load of crap - the MSM interviewer should stop him and ask him - where are you getting your info from? How do you know this? Essentially - they should call these - talking heads - these spinners - and ask them to provide some sort of proof.

We here at DU know that this is all RNC, Rove, RW Think Tank talking points and spin - but the Sheeple out there in MSM land - listen and read this crap and take if for gospel truth.

When this RW spin is regurgitated often enough - it becomes 'fact'/'truth' in the minds of the people and then you turn on a radio talk show or you see the e-mail responses to the stupid survey's and requests CNN, MSNBC, Faux - and the same crap turns up - but this time from the Sheeple.

5. So I take it he was supportive of Clinton and Kerry?
"When a person is being unfairly targeted, I'll defend them, no matter what side of the aisle they're on," King said.

So I take it you were defending Clinton back in the 90's? Or Michael Schiavo? Or Senator Kerry?

Just another right wing, partisan, hypocritical hack.
