Don't let Rove distract from DSM! Email Senators now to sign JK's letter!
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 01:48 PM by flpoljunkie
Now is not the time to let up our pressure. Hold their feet to the fire! Email your Senators, particularly those of you with Senators on the Intelligence Committee. The only Senator who has signed is Corzine.

We must not let the Downing Street Memos die now! Bush must answer for misleading this nation to war in Iraq.

Sample email:

I urge you to sign Senator Kerry's letter urging the Senate Intelligence Committee to complete Phase II of their investigation--how the administration used the intelligence they received in the run up to the Iraq War--which chairmain Pat Roberts agreed to in February, 2002.

Our brave soldiers, who are serving and dying every day in Iraq, deserve no less.

From Salon War Room re Kerry's letter: "Where Are the Other Democrats?"

http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/print.html?blog=

Where are the other Democrats?

For those who have been itching for someone -- the national media, the White House, Congress, anybody -- to take the Downing Street memo seriously, the news today is mostly good: Even if the Republicans will never let it happen, John Kerry and nine other Senate Democrats have actually asked for an investigation that will include the revelations set forth in the Downing Street memo.

And yet -- where are the rest of the Senate Democrats? There are 44 Democrats in the Senate, and Kerry circulated a draft of his letter to the whole lot of them two weeks ago. In the end, he was able to persuade just nine of his colleagues to sign on: Jon Corzine, Tim Johnson, Frank Lautenberg, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Tom Harkin, Jack Reed, Jeff Bingaman and Dick Durbin.

Where are you, Harry Reid? Any reason you didn't sign, Sen. Clinton? And while we wouldn't expect to see a signature from someone like Joe Lieberman on this letter, why don't we see your name there, Sen. Obama?

It would be one thing, we suppose, if Kerry's letter were outrageous somehow -- say, if it impugned the patriotism of millions of Americans or suggested their real "motives" were to put U.S. troops in mortal danger. But Kerry's letter isn't like that. It simply quotes passages from the Downing Street memo and highlights the "troubling questions" that they raise.

Is it that you don't think those questions are worth answers, Joe Biden? Or does the experience of Dick Durbin -- who did, after all, sign the Kerry letter -- have you too scared to raise them?

2. Exactly!!! they are ONE and the SAME issue....
""Wilson emphasized that this is about the war in Iraq and the lies the White House used to sell that war. Tony Blair offered up shoddily forged documents claiming the weak and enfeebled Hussein was trying to buy radioactive material in Africa. Bush sent Joe Wilson to check it out. Joe Wilson came back and said it wasn't true -- the evidence didn't hold up. Bush didn't like that answer so they sent someone else to investigate. They came back and said the same thing: the proof isn't there. Bush STILL didn't like that answer so they sent someone else. Three separate investigations and all three said the same thing: no go.

But Bush lied anyway. In his State of the Union address leading up to the war, Bush stated flatly in 16 fatal words that Hussein had gone to Africa to buy radioactive material. Wilson was astonished and finally decided to come forward and speak out publicly -- the very thing the far right just excoriated Deep Throat for not doing. Wilson knew it meant they would attack and smear him but he came forward anyway. Those 16 words -- that lie -- became the focus of intense debate and ultimately Joe Wilson was vindicated: the White House admitted it didn't have the proof to back up that claim. According to the Bush Administration, Joe Wilson was right and they were wrong.""

4. Yup, use Rove-Plame to talk about DSM
Rove outed plame to smear and get revenge on Joe Wilson, who correctly pointed out that the intel Bush used in his SOTU address was not only based on false evidence, the president should have damn well known the evidence was bad. but bad evidence doesn't matter when you've ALREADY COMMITTED TO GOING TO WAR, NO MATTER WHAT, WAR AS A FIRST AND ONLY RESORT.

To think that Bush had to give his SOTU and use the yellow cake claim as his BEST EVIDENCE of Iraq WMD. If that info was the best, how bad was the worst?

3. Ding! Wilson initiated questioning of Bush's misleading us to Iraq War,
and for that the Bush administration tried to destroy him and his wife.

5. Bought new printer for do-it-myself bumper stickers
I'm going to make my own bumper stickers on current issues. i plan for all my stickers to be about Bush lying us into war.

We will not let our Reps and Senators off the hook. I've been calling my Reps and 2 sens at least once a week since the DMS broke 5/1/05. They are all republican bastgards, but i want them to feel the heat.

I keep emploring them to represent the 100% of their constituents who were lied to. Since everyone was lied to, my point of view is the 100%. My elected repubs are representing the 0%, those who were told the truth by Bush.

11. The DSMs are ETERNAL
we will not let them die.

Conyers is probably taking a break. The dude is 75 years old. After some recharging, i'm sure Conyers will once again be leading the charge, taking action, and getting visibility for the DSM issues.

KEEP CALLING POLITICIANS AND THE MEDIA

Don't give up!

The polls lately have been all in our favor - Bush's web of lies is starting to get him tangled up.

Bush looks scared and weak lately. He can't handle the scandals anymore. The Left has never been so vocal about the fact that Bush lied us into war. Heck, it took me a while to catch on. I've only been into blogs for less than a year. soon people will see the light and reject bush, and call for impeachment and/or resignation.

13. Focus should be Rove's motive: to protect Bush's lies
The simple question is: What is Rove's motive for messing with the Wilsons?

The simple answer: Wilson was exposing the truth that Bush was using bad intel to hype the war of lies. If Niger yellowcake was the BEST evidence, what was the WORST?

But don't get too much hopes up about the senate, and the dem leadership in general. Or at least, don't assume they have any instinct for self preservation. Senate dems will likely have to be dragged kicking and screaming into this affair as well. They have shown zeal at attacking Rove, but no mention of Rove's motive: to coverup Bush's lies. We need to keep pressure on the dems to hold bush accountable, because they won't do it on their own. We need an Operation Progressive Backbone, or something.
