CNN: Bush Welcomes Probe Of CIA Leak
"I want to know the truth," president tells reporters.

Wednesday, February 11, 2004

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush said Tuesday he welcomes a Justice Department investigation into who revealed the classified identity of a CIA operative.

"If there's a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is," Bush told reporters at an impromptu news conference during a fund-raising stop in Chicago, Illinois. "If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of."

"I welcome the investigation. I am absolutely confident the Justice Department will do a good job."

"I want to know the truth," the president continued. "Leaks of classified information are bad things."

He added that he did not know of "anybody in my administration who leaked classified information."

Bush said he has told his administration to cooperate fully with the investigation and asked anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward.

1. can we say BS? WHY didn't he start an investigation before? on the other
hand, he didn't want an investigation of 9/11 either. should we wonder what he is hiding, or afraid of having us find out?

2. Wow. Those are classic "I'm guilty" lines
When you hear "I want to know the truth" from a politician accused of a crime, you can count on them being guilty.

10. as usual, guileful george was dissassembling.
"if a person has violated law" innocent until proven guilty
"i want to know who it is" he does
"confident the "justice department" will do a good job" of sweeping it up
"leaks of classified information are BAD things" yes they are
"He added that he did not know of "anybody in my administration who leaked classified information."" carefully there ""leaked classified information""
"told his administration and asked people to come forward" but george is still unsullied, yes?

as usual he dissassembles with the best of them. makes clinton seem like a schoolboy.

GWB dissassembling the truth one fact at a time.

"taken care of" in this context means "assured financial freedom for life and set up in cushy post with no accountability."

23. Seems like parsing for Dubya to say..."if person has violated the law..."
What about restoring "honor and integrity" to the White House! Exposing a CIA agent, whether intentioned or not--can anyone believe that Rove's action in this case were not intentional--is dastardly, and Rove should be fired immediately.

Can anyone believe the man in the Oval Office who said, "F*ck Saddam. We're taking him out" incapable of outing a CIA agent for revenge--and assigning the job to "Turd Blossom"?
