Question for Kerry Supporters
Let's assume, for the moment, Kerry wins the nomination.

The Bush campaign runs a TV spot showing Kerry's appearance at the fundraiser with Yarrow, where he mimicked taking a hit off a joint, and asks viewers if they want a President with such a flippant attitude towards drugs.

How does Kerry respond to this?

1. He has a surrogate ask how Bush feels about drinking and driving
and then lying about it.

5. Damn straight
That's some MIGHTY thin ice there, President "Hole In The Septum" Bush.

Oh, and Bush's little drinking problem.

And having to go drug court to have the felony charge removed from his record,

Not smart.

If Senator Kerry winds up in a GOP attack ad --
-- for the toke-mimicking and viewers are asked if they want someone this flippant regarding drugs, I would suggest to the Kerry camp that they run an ad the next morning (have it filmed and ready to go) of Dubya landing on the air craft carrier for his "mission accomplished" appearance. The voice-over would ask viewers, "Do you want someone who went AWOL from national service to be the Commander-in-Chief in charge of the lives of your daughters and sons?"

Then show a split-screen ad, show on one side a calendar of the days W was awol and on the other, the faces of the casulaties of U.S. men and women who have been killed in Iraq.

I think that would put the toke question to rest in a hurry.

Will we Democrats cower in fear hoping they don't say anything mean to us or will we fight these clowns with everything we've got?

Kerry also might bring up his work on Iran Contra or BCCI. (and throw pappa bush's name in there)

6. Slightly incorrect premise
The Bush campaign won't do it, they'll do it through another group, like the pukes did with the Willie Horton ad.

And to whom I was like to give offense.

17. If I wanted something that looped every second...
If I wanted something that looped every second, I'd go to a cheep website and watch one of their banner ads. Maybe tone the repeat rate down a tad as to not give people headaches?

Thanks :)

15. Bring up Bush's past as a cokehead
In fact I think Kerry's more leanant views on drugs will help him especially with younger voters yet at the same time he appeals to older voters for other reasons. Kerry could have a very nice coalition of voters I think, who knows maybe even the new deal coalition, ok I am dreaming :).

23. yea
Serious I think of the so called big 4, Kerry, Edwards, Clark, and Dean, I think Kerry has the most leanant views on drugs, hes not Kucinich :) but hes not in favor of Dracoian Drug laws.

what with that whole Barry Seal, Darlene Novinger, Joe Price trifecta about the Bushies and their fondness for cocaine and airplanes and Florida airports.

24. I will say, "Thank God a president with a sense of humor"
I 'll take that over Bush saying of Karla fay Tucker, "Don't Kill me Please". Bush's idea of a joke. If this is all they have, we are set.

(I'm not naive enough to think it is)
