What did Poppy Bush do to Perot in 92 to make him almost go berserk?
I remember it had something to do with his daughter's wedding in Texas. Was this another dirty trick by the Bush kinder and gentler team.

1. Didn't Perot say that members of his family were being followed?
I remember people making fun of him, calling him crazy, paranoid. I recently read "All the President's Men" and learned that it was a common practice for Republican dirty tricksters. Wish I'd known then what I know now.

7. I thought it had something to do with his daughter's wedding
but then again I kinda got the feeling that Perot wasn't wrapped that tight.

2. Perot is nuts
While it's possible Pappy set him off, the man didn't appear to have a tight grip on reality to begin with.

4. As I recall, there were rumors of a possible assassination attempt
which were never verified. Ol' Ross was on a short fuse anyway (he has real issues with George 1 over Viet Nam POWs) and being a very rich man was particularly susceptible to stuff like that.

As a private citizen he was not at all popular with the Viets and the rumor that commies were planning to shoot up the wedding fit right in with his world view.

And, yeah, I worked on the campaign and I'd have been happy to see him win.

Ross Perot would have been the death of the establishment, with no exaggeration. Of course, I find rubble exciting.

5. I don't know, I googled it and was looking at articles
I found very wierd wacky article. I have no clue as to the credibility of the writer ( appears to be an evangelical even) but you might want to look at it.

6. Perot - noia
He accused Poppy of disrupting his daughter's wedding.

We all know the Bush family would never stoop that low. Right?

8. I seem to remember that he thought his daughter was to
be kidnapped around the time of her wedding. You will recall that the Bushies claimed that Clinton's Presidency was illegitimate because of the theory that Perot drained votes from Poppy. It was this radical view that fueled the effort to overthrow a duly elected President in the impeachment coup de tat.

10. What difference? He's one of Boy Bush's biggest cheerleaders.
He campaigned for him in 2000 and 2004.

Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 10:39 PM by Zen Democrat
split the anti-Bush vote and put Poppy back in. When he started pulling away Poppy votes, then Perot began acting like a paranoid berserkoid to "release" his votes back to Poppy. Fortunately, it broke in Clinton's favor.
