Anybody on The Phone To Their Senators Today (& Tomorrow)?
Just wondering. Not sure what I'll say when I call- I'll just speak my heart and mind.

3. Ooops, here's this for your handy-dandy calling...

Today's Five Minutes for Democracy is: DEMOCRACY TRAIN EVER CLOSER

Topic: FILIBUSTER SHOWDOWN TUESDAY

Get Ready for tomorrow’s vote—Call Senators

The vote will be called tomorrow on this critical issue. The Senators on the following list are still on the fence and need encouragement from people in their state to make their important decisions. You know they are getting tremendous pressure from the White House—are they getting enough input from the people in their state—the ones they actually REPRESENT?

· Robert Bennett (UT) - (202) 224-5444
· Susan Collins (ME) - (202) 224-2523
· Mike DeWine (OH) - (202) 224-2315
· Lindsey Graham (SC) - (202) 224-5972
· Judd Gregg (NH) - (202) 224-3324
· Chuck Hagel (NE) - (202) 224-4224
· Dick Lugar (IN) - (202) 224-4814
· Lisa Murkowski (AK) - (202) 224-6665
· Pat Roberts (KS) - (202) 224-4774
· Arlen Specter (PA) - (202) 224-4254
· John Sununu (NH) - (202) 224-2841
· John Warner (VA) - (202) 224-2023

Keep remarks brief: identify yourself, state your position and how you want them to vote, and thank the person answering the phone.

8. Everybody
Robert Bennet is voting for the nuclear option. HE's framing it as the "constitutional option".

2. When I call my republican "moderate" I always ask that he fight the
corruption in his party. I explain that I voted for him, but will not next time--in fact I will work against him.

So far he's following the party line, but since I fully intend to use our conversations against him during the campaign, let him dig the hole he's in.

7. Here's a point they have a hard time with.
Apparently the Senate parliamentarian says they'll have to break Senate rules to exercise the nuclear option. Soooooo....they intend to ignore him and not ask his opinion.

I say if the Senator votes for "it", he/she should submit legislation to do away with the parliamentarian's job to save the government money. Let's not pretend to follow the rules.

6. If Specter turns I will be really really pissed
There have been TV ads in the Phila area about Specter and how he's fighting to keep the filibuster in place. If he does turn, a lot of money and hopes will have been wasted on him.
