White House Calls Memo it Hasn't Read 'Flat Out Wrong'
http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/index.php?id=2667

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Claims in a recently uncovered British memo that intelligence was "being fixed" to support the Iraq war as early as mid-2002 are "flat out wrong," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Monday.

McClellan insisted the process leading up to the decision to go to war was "very public" -- and that the decision to invade in March 2003 was taken only after Iraq refused to comply with its "international obligations."

"The president of the United States, in a very public way, reached out to people across the world, went to the United Nations and tried to resolve this in a diplomatic manner," McClellan said.

"Saddam Hussein was the one, in the end, who chose continued defiance. And only then was the decision made, as a last resort, to go into Iraq." However, McClellan also said he had not seen the "specific memo," only reports of what it contained.

This is big. Now it is officially a debate. And Scotty has said the words, "last resort", when we KNOW that isn't true.

2. "The potential for mischief varies inversely "IN RELATION...
TO THE PROXIMITY OF the authority figure" is the *exact* quote, I'm willing to bet a quarter.
Bart was trying to teach him how to be "normal" by sitting in the back of the school bus.

A ROTFL scene in an excellent episode.

3. What is Howard Dean or John Kerry's position on the memo?
How about Hillary Clinton or Harry Reid?

4. The weapons inspectors were right, all the time, Saddam complied
But faced with the stacked deck of "HE HAS WMD! IT'S CONTINUED DEFIANCE!", what are you gonna do? Say "You're crazy!" to Bush and the imperialist junta?

Sure!

5. Iraq refused to comply with its "international obligations?" how so?
hussein let in the UN inspectors. bush told them to leave, not hussein.

the war was not a last resort. it was the initial plan all along.

8. Exactly
They wanted more time to look and Bush couldn't wait so he went ahead with the war. I don't remember but did Congress give authority to go in? Of course it was the plan. He already was talking about this in 1999. Info clearing house has this up on their site. Wasn't Hussein also going to make a deal with them to let them in if they didn't attack?

6. And more people didn't call them liars?
I just fail to understand how they can say with straight faces that Saddam Hussein didn't comply with the UN inspectors. BushCO et al say that Saddam didn't allow the inspectors in the country which is an enormous load of SHIT. When they said it the first time, no media outlet bothered to say otherwise and breathlessly anounced the mobilisation of yet more American troops. Why doesn't at least one person in the White HOuse press pool stand up and call McClellan a goddamned liar?

9. He "pretended" to reach out to people of the world...
There is a difference. He was fixated on Iraq and he knew what he was going to do and the "memo" points it out rather directly.
