were sending a care package
to a co-workers son in Iraq. I am tempted to send a little truth along with wet wipes, like maybe the secret Downing St. smoking gun. Is that a bad idea?

1. Well you might have to send more then that.
You have to remember they do not get news like we do (snicker). The memo might have little meaning without some explaination.

It could not hurt putting it in. He will just toss it if he is not interested. Odds are he will read it anyway.

Go for it...

2. Things are getting so bad here in the U.S. for seniors and children
that they should be getting good care packages.

3. Packaging 'peanuts'
"Natural" alternative to 'styrofoam' Packaging Peanuts for the Repukes and they won't even get the inside joke!

Use 'old' newspapers, if possible, as stuffing around the 'real' care package items. I always read the 'local news' on such when mail order packages arrive. It's like two gifts in one! Neat to see what's going on in someone else's world.

It will also disguise informational materials as 'wicker' to the armed forces mail/package censors/inspectors, so it will get through.

I wonder if there is a way of sending out a request to UK Du'ers to send you their 'old news' with the relevant information to reuse as such?!

4. I was always kind of careful about stuff like that (sending politically
oriented material, particularly if it was related to anything highly emotionally charged) when mailing care packages to the troops--but if you feel so inclined, I don't see how it can really hurt. I agree with those who say you might want to stick in other news items to fill out this one--just in case he is in a major news black hole (not everyone I knew was, depending on where each was stationed).

5. You could include a few paperback
books, and stick some good info in there. As has been stated, if not appreciated, the info can be discarded, and the troops do enjoy books.
