Guys, help me out here...
I've just been presented with this argument: "Bush didn't lie to invade Iraq. If he lied, why has no Democrat Congressmen ever said that?"

I need as many quotes as possible, to barrage him. Thanks.

By not calling a liar a liar.

I also think it sucks. And is a losing strategy.

5. In light of the...
In light of the Downing Street Memo, there is a lie in here. I wish to hell some in Congress would call Bush on it:

Press Conference, March 6, 2003

"Ann."

Q Mr. President, if you decide to go ahead with military action, there are inspectors on the ground in Baghdad. Will you give them time to leave the country, or the humanitarian workers on the ground or the journalists? Will you be able to do that, and still mount an effective attack on Iraq?

THE PRESIDENT: Of course. We will give people a chance to leave. And we don't want anybody in harm's way who shouldn't be in harm's way. The journalists who are there should leave. If you're going, and we start action, leave. The inspectors -- we don't want people in harm's way. And our intention -- we have no quarrel with anybody other than Saddam and his group of killers who have destroyed a society. And we will do everything we can, as I mentioned -- and I mean this -- to protect innocent life.

I've not made up our mind about military action. Hopefully, this can be done peacefully. Hopefully, that as a result of the pressure that we have placed -- and others have placed -- that Saddam will disarm and/or leave the country."

7. Congressman Jim McGovern
http://www.thenation.com/docprem.mhtml?i=20050502&s=mcgovern

Congressman Jim McGovern, D-MA:

"Trust me when I tell you things are so much better in Iraq," said one US military official to me on my recent visit to that war-ravaged country. I didn't know whether to scream or pull the remaining two strands of hair out of my head. I was in Iraq as part of a delegation of eight members of Congress, led by House minority leader Nancy Pelosi. Everything we have been told about Iraq by the Bush Administration has either been an outright lie or overwhelmingly false. There were no weapons of mass destruction; we have not been greeted as liberators; and the cost in terms of blood and treasure has outpaced even their worst-case scenarios. Trust is something I cannot give to this Administration.

Democratic Congressman Asserts Bush Would Mislead US on Iraq
by John H. Cushman Jr

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 — Democratic congressmen who are visiting Iraq this week stirred up anger among some Republicans when they questioned the reasons President Bush has used to justify possible military action against Iraq.

One of the congressmen, Representative Jim McDermott of Washington State, said today that he thought President Bush was willing "to mislead the American people" about whether the war was needed and that the administration had gone back and forth between citing supposed links between Iraq and the terrorist network Al Qaeda and Iraq's supposed attempts to obtain weapons of mass destruction.

10. Henry Waxman
http://www.motherjones.com/news/update/2003/03/we_338_01.html

"It is unfathomable how we could be in a situation where the CIA knew information was not reliable but yet it was cited by the President in the State of the Union and by other leading Administration officials," he says. "Either this is knowing deception or utter incompetence and an explanation is urgently needed."

OK, Waxman gave Bush an escape route from the lying charge. Bush could simply be utterly incompetent.

12. Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL)
September 23, 2004

Press Release

Wexler: Bush Lying to the American Public and Covering-up Failed Iraq Policy

( Washington, D.C.) Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) issued the following statement in response to the speech made by Iraqi interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi before a joint session of Congress:

“I am outraged that President Bush is exploiting Prime Minister Allawi’s visit to whitewash his failed Iraq policy and the growing instability and violence that has led to the death of over 1,000 American soldiers and the maiming of over 7,000 soldiers. President Bush is distorting reality and ignoring the American intelligence analyst who suggested in the July 2004 National Intelligence Estimate that we maybe losing the war in Iraq. In order for Iraq to successfully move toward stability, security and peace it is incumbent upon President Bush to acknowledge his failures. Staying the course is not an option, and it is clear that we need significant strategic change in Iraq.

“I applaud the courage, candor and strength of Prime Minister Allawi for coming to Congress and openly discussing the problems in Iraq. I only wish Mr. Bush was as honest as Iraqi Prime Minister Allawi in admitting that there are mounting threats on the ground in Iraq and that the American public should be prepared for more setbacks. Unlike Mr. Allawi and several Republican Senators, President Bush is unwilling to admit that grave mistakes have occurred. He has instead disastrously chosen political expediency , misleading the American public and endangering our soldiers.”

9. Congressman Jim McDermott (D-Wash)
while I haven't a quote that he said Bush "lied", here's what he felt before the invasion:

"When U.S. Congressman Jim McDermott (D-Wash) went to Iraq prior to the war to learn the facts firsthand, he concluded President Bush would intentionally mislead the American people to justify an unjustified war of aggression against Iraq. McDermott was immediately denounced as a "traitor" by the president's political allies and the cabal of evil cable TV anchors.

11. I think we're making Cherry Pie. We've reduced it to Cherry Picking.
Edited on Sun May-08-05 07:13 PM by Wizard777
How they love to accuse us of their crimes. They aren't exactly giving us lemons. So somebody must be in the jackpot. This is my response.

George can chop down that Cherry Tree. Rove can slash, hack, and chop at it reducing it to minute bits and peices as if it were the US Constitution its' self to hide what they have done. That will never change the fact that the Cherry Pit is under the center shell. This is fun. Try and hide it again. I'm well known for my patients. I can wait as little as 12 years or as long as 229 years for that Cherry Pit to take root, grow up, and reveal it's self evidently. The truth being chief amongst them. Surprize! the Cherry Pit is still under that center shell no matter where YOU try to place it. Some things are also immoveable. Like a well rooted Cherry Tree. Then we can pick all the cherries we want to. Truth be tolled the the charges against George are eternal in their nature. We do have an Axe that we try not to touch at all costs. Our abundant patients can not be taxed unless We The People allow it too.

In this forum I do not debate with weapon drawn. But I can assure you that when you have a blind idiot maniacally waving his sword around. The whole point IS to miss the point. Never take your eye off that. That cuts both ways. That is how we know this to be the Sword of Lady Justice tried and true. As enchanting as her breasts may be. They are not her offense.

So Judge not least Ye be judged yourself. Shall not provide any aid nor comfort in this matter. He has made case and judged. He has been Judged and he is not without sin. So he to shall be judged. Even if it takes 12 years which George himself has proclaimed to be far too long or 229 years which he thinks isn't long enough. I agree with George that swift Justice can preserve order.

This the entire conversation of the needle we are threading. I've read their ruins. Spell it anyway you want. The Cherry Pit is under the center shell. Go ahead and hide it again! LMAO Three card monte anyone? ROTFLMAO

23. Sept 7 2002
Bush said "I would remind you that when the inspectors were in Iraq, when they were finally denied access, an IAEA report came out saying Saddam was six months away from a (nuclear) weapon." The IAEA immediately said no such report existed. I could go on with the three following lies to pretend this was just a mistake but the fact is pulling a report out of his ass, that never existed is a strait out lie, not a mistake, not an intelligence failure, an out and out LIE.
