Political history buff help? Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner.
I've googled without much success.
Anybody know the history/origins (or first) Democratic Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner?

Our fledgling Dem club is having our first one Friday and I'd like a short blurb about it to put at each place setting.

Thanks in advance.

1. It's essentially a "Founders Day" dinner

Jefferson and Jackson are believed to be the founders of the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin recently change the name of their Jefferson-Jackson Dinner to Founders Day Dinner because it is perceived as more politically correct in an era when we wish to embrace all minorities and are working especially hard to bring in Native Americans in the state. Jackson, author of the Trail of Tears and many more atrocities, is a rather poor poster boy for Native American relations.

on edit: that's all I know, but I bet your state party would have more details. You might also try googling them with Democrat or Democratic Party.
