Dean comments on Overtime Pay Cuts (note lack of media cov. for you)
Dean's Statement on Overtime Pay

NASHUA--Governor Dean issued the following statement today on overtime pay cuts:

"Standing alongside working women and men across America, I am outraged that Congress has approved the Bush Administration's scheme to cut overtime pay for millions of American workers.

"Last year the Bush Administration tried to make as many as eight million skilled workers -- such as nurses and secretaries -- ineligible for time-and-a-half overtime pay. Worse, the Labor Department also provided employers with advice on how to avoid giving overtime to workers who are eligible.

"This rule is an insult to the millions of hard-working families who rely on overtime pay to make ends meet.

"Some Democrats in Congress, especially Senator Tom Harkin, have fought hard to block this provision. But the Administration won this latest round by sneaking it in through the backdoor in an overall spending bill, and leading Washington Democrats failed to stop it. Business as usual in Washington is not working for working Americans. We need a new Administration that has the strength and determination to stand up for American workers and against special interests. We need an Administration that is effective and can deliver for our families."

Dean is right...how in the heck can congress and senate vote for this.

I want a candidate that will speak out for the workers...

1. Yes...that is conspicuously absent from the news today.
Much too popular of a message.

2. Let me guess ...

First Zell Miller probably voted FOR it.

I want to find out which Democratic Senators failed to block this. There will be blood in the water.

If they were going to let this shit slide through, it should have been closer to the election. Then they could really let Bush HAVE IT on the issue.

The Democrats in the Senate HAVE NOT SPINE!!!! The American people will make these creeps PAY BIG TIME for this outrage!!!!!

3. Instead of complaining
how about a suggestion about what you expected them to do?

Did you want the Dems to shut the govt down the way the Repukes did under Gingrich? After all, it worked so well for them!!

If they were going to let this shit slide through, it should have been closer to the election

You do realize, I hope, that the Dems don't get to decide when a bill comes up for a vote.

4. Yes. Shut it down. Clinton was the one who shut it down.
He was the one who vetoed the Republican budgets and forced them to fund things better, including anti-terrorism funding.

When the govt gets shut down, people wake up and take notice. If people notice, they start to ask why, and they learn that it's because Democrats are defending overtime pay, defending air traffic controllers, and all the other bullshit that's packed into this bill.

If Democrats had had the balls to expose this bill to the harsh light of day, Republicans would have scattered like roaches voting against this shit.

5. the blog is a source?
That counts as media coverage how?

Any of us could pull similar statements from a candidate's blog or website.

I am unimpressed.

8. Ouch.
Dean speaks for the people. He's right about it. There is a lack of coverage on the substansive things most of the candidates say. He's got a great message.

I wanted to ask a DK supporter.. did you see him last night when that dufus Daily News guy tried to ask him a question while stuffing his mouth with a bagel? Dennis told him something like "get out of here" and shook his head as though he didn't realize it was a joke. Someone should probably let him know that Daily Show pulls stupid things like that a lot (which are usually funny). I don't think Dennis realized who it was. Lieberman was actually really funny.. because he recognized who it was, and was just laughing at him as he walked away. I would vote for any of the Democrats when one gets the nomination. I like those dumb Daily Show pranks because it shows you the unscripted side of the candidates.
