Keep Church & State Separate - stamped on Dollar Bill
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 11:24 AM by liberal N proud
I received a $1 bill with the following stamped on the back:
Keep Church & State Separate
www.godoffmoney.com

http://www.godoffmoney.com/

The site, is in support of keeping the two separate and you can no longer purchase your own stamp.

1. I Like The Idea..... But.....
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 12:11 PM by ulTRAX
Having stamped plenty of my own political messages on currency I like the idea.

But most on the Left already believe in separation of church and state. This approach will only further alienate the nuts on the Right.

I'm wondering if this approach would be more effective if someone on the religious Right could be convinced that this was a God and Caesar issue and the slogan reflected a religious "render unto Caesar" religious argument instead of a secular separation of powers argument.

2. I don't know, it could be helpful
The fanatic fundies on the extreme right couldn't be any more alienated. So, it doesn't matter if they are alienated by this.

What it could do, however, is make moderates aware of what is going on. I would be willing to bet that many moderates who are for the most part uninterested in political discourse may not be aware of the strong push for dominionism by the religious right.

3. yes, when more people like us start to see signs everywhere, they
will get more involved. Signs on your money. Signs in your neighborhood, stickers on the gas pumps, phone booths, everywhere. Most pubs aren't really pugs they are just stupid people who fell for the ploy directed at them. Love God/hate gays/save the egg. If they see enough anti shrub stuff, they will start to question him. It's the same tactics the pugs use-repeat the message-repeat the message-eventually they will hear it.

4. possible wedge issue
For Christians there seems to be a clear doctrinal contradiction at work between those who want to use Christian dogma as a basis of government and Christ's actual admonition to "render unto Caesar".

I'm just looking at a possible wedge issue to separate ordinary Christians from the lunatic fundies.
