White House says Bolton charges trumped up

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House accused opposition Democrats of fabricating charges of misconduct against its controversial nominee to be US ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton.



"Democrats continue to bring these accusations up, and trump them up, and make unfounded allegations," spokesman Scott McClellan said of charges against Bolton heard by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.


Asked whether the White House believed the accusations were trumped up, McClellan replied: "Absolutely."


"We believe they are unfounded, they are unsubstantiated, and that they have been addressed by John Bolton in his testimony before Congress," he said.

He must be to try this reasoning. The Senate committee had people in front of them telling them this stuff, and they had the letter from the aid worker about his abuse.
How the hell he can try to say that they're making it up, it's Orwellian (yet again).
