5. I'm at a loss here. He's showing these notes for what reason?
Because he said they're just paper and don't mean anything?

Ms. Chapman looks like she'd rather be getting a root canal from her cat than be in this photo.

8. I think you're right, demokatgurrl -- that woman is recoiling.
She's not holding the book up for demonstration purposes -- she's holding it up as a shield against the sheer unpleasantness of being next to such a moron.

9. I think the line went something like:"Some people say these pieces....
of paper will keep the system going. They are just paper and totally worthless....."

10. Close-Here is the ACTUAL TRANSCRIPT
I have just come from the Bureau of Public Debt. I want to thank Van Zeck, Keith Rake, and Susan Chapman. Susan was the tour guide there at the Bureau of Public Debt. I went there because I'm trying to make a point about the Social Security trust. You see, a lot of people in America think there's a trust, in this sense -- that we take your money through payroll taxes and then we hold it for you, and then when you retire, we give it back to you. But that's not the way it works.

There is no "trust fund," just IOUs that I saw firsthand, that future generations will pay -- will pay for either in higher taxes, or reduced benefits, or cuts to other critical government programs.

The office here in Parkersburg stores those IOUs. They're stacked in a filing cabinet. Imagine -- the retirement security for future generations is sitting in a filing cabinet. It's time to strengthen and modernize Social Security for future generations with growing assets that you can control, that you call your own -- assets that the government cannot take away. (Applause.)

13. WTF? future generations will pay?
Uh, Mr stupid, did you mean future generations of politicians will pay back the IOUs...makes sense, because I know that you cannot seriously be proposing that us worthless feeders pay back OUR money that you assholes borrowed...can you? fuckwad!!!!!!!

11. He ought to know "worthless paper" when he sees it...
As a member of the board of directors at Harken, he saw how worthless Harken stock would become in a short amount of time, so he unloaded his shares just before the true assessment of the company's financial future became public.

He walked off with a small fortune while the rest of the shareholders lost their investments.

Insider trading? Not when your Poppy is a former US congressman, RNC chief, and ambassador to the UN.

12. How did W ever get out of that one?
Bruce Hiler, the associate director of the SEC's enforcement division, who wrote a letter to Bush's attorney saying the investigation was being terminated, now represents former Enron president Jeff Skilling in matters before the government. Richard Breeden, the SEC chairman at the time, was deputy counsel to Bush's father when he was Vice President and was appointed SEC chairman when H.W. Bush became President. James Doty, the SEC's general counsel at the time, helped W. Bush negotiate the contract to buy the Texas Rangers. Bush used the proceeds of his sale of Harken stock in 1990 to pay off a loan he took out for a minority stake in the baseball team. Doty has said that he recused himself from the SEC's two-year probe into Bush's sale of Harken stock.
