Schiavo/School Shooting
Bush went back to Washington to sign this Schiavo bill very quickly, but he has yet to say anything about the school shooting in Minnesota. I think it shows how little Bush cares about life and how this is all about politics to him. It was the worst school shooting in recent history and it seems to have shocked no one in washington. I think this country has honostly become numb to sensless killing. Look at the war in Iraq for instance. Over 1500 people have died, but it hasn't seemed to phase people enough to stand up and vote these idiots out of office. After columbine Clinton showed his compasion and gave his heart to the families of Columbine and worked on a gun control bill. What legislation has Bush proposed?

3. Late is the truth...
Remember the tsunami. It took him days to respond. It was only after severe criticism that he said anything. Same deal now. Politics as usual, I guess.

2. President Clinton went to Columbine. Bush needs to show up in MN
and lend whatever insincere support he has to offer. It is the proper thing to do. It's a 'respect for life' gesture.

Why does bush neglect his people?

This no-show will feature prominently in any Senate run in Minnesota: Why can't our repub politicians get the White House to show up in our state and show respect for life, after such a horrific, gut-wrenching tragedy?

And I don't buy that Bush is giving MN Gov. Tim 'Pass The Buck' Pawlenty the spotlight to enhance his stature for a future repub presidential run.

Bush needs to show up. I'm guessing the only evidence of a bush presence will be if Rove sends recruiting sniffers up to the Red Lake area, now that they've become aware of it.

10. I doubt that Bush would be welcome at Red Lake
Pawlenty (as much as I dislike him) made a very good statement the day of the shooting and had the good grace to speak to the tribal chairman to find out when it would be appropriate to go up there.

I wish Bush would decide to go up there - it would be fun to see him to see him told to stay away.

4. When has the government ever cared
about dead Native Americans?

They didn't care in 1492, and they don't seem to care in 2005.

A live white woman, though... that's what it's all about. Even if she's only sort of alive.

Seriously, the tsunami, Darfur, dead Native Americans, Iraqi casualties.... every shade and hue of tragic death in the last year.

Jessica Lynch, that woman hostage last week, Terri Schiavo... the photogenic white women always get the press.

So depressing.

6. You know,
something you can do to help would be to try and be friendly with loners.
A lot of kids who end up getting violent do so because they are neglected, treated like crap, depressed, and they eventually snap.
When I was in school, I made it a point to at least make conversation with the kids who everyone else made fun of and ignored. It made me feel a lot better and hopefully it made them feel good, too.
Also, no offense, but all caps tends to bug people.

8. Yes, welcome to DU.
Isn't it interesting that * didn't interrupt his vacation when he got the memo "Bin Laden Determined to Strike within US"? Sigh.

BTW, using all caps online usually denotes yelling. It's considered impolite and you might be misunderstood.

Welcome to DU!!! I hope you enjoy your stay. :)

9. Interesting, but,
not surprising. All things considered, he wouldn't have gained such popularity or his so called mandate had it not been for 9/11.
Simply put, I hate that man. :).

12. Don't expect realistic human emotions from a Chimp
There is no point in trying to think that there is a reasonable understanding why Chimpy would in any way be intelligent.

It's been obvious for years that Chimpy is nothing more than a war pussy, a shell, a coward, an opportunistic demogogue and a mental lightweight.

He is America. We are fucked.
