Give me liberty or give me a persistent vegetative state.
Live free or die. (NH State Motto)

I regret that I have but one life to give for my country. (Nathan Hale)

Give me liberty or give me death. (Patrick Henry)

Suddenly the right wing, who had always loved sentiments like those above, wants to make "death" not an option. But consider what these sentiments say when "death" is replaced with "persistent vegetative state":

I regret that I will remain in a persistent state for my country.

Give me liberty or give me a persistent vegetative state.

Live free or in a persistent vegetative state.

Would any of the Schiavo Life supporters have made these statements during, say, the Stalin era? No! Liberty is opposed to living in a persistent vegetative state. Apparently these guys have fogotten what "liberty" is.

4. Thank you....
I'm really pretty sick of all this. Esp. when I'm hearing mothers send their sons (and reluctantly, daughters) off to war to defend our laws. Ick.

"Did you hear they've changed the red state/blue state thing?"
(Okay I was wingin it) "yeah, red states will now be called 'persistent vegetative states.'"

Even the non-political folks laughed. Black humor? What's more insanely, ludicrously demented than draggin Terri Schiavo through the muck like a bag of skin?

:kick:

Persistent vegetative state explains the non-reaction to the (second) non-election.

8. How's This?

Q: Why did the GOP get all excited over the woman in a persistent vegetative state?

A: Their demographics showed she was a likely Republican voter.

9. I've been wondering if they selected a braindead poster child
to make Bush look smart by comparison.
