Air America Ratings
Does anyone have any solid info about how Air America is doing in the Arbitron ratings? When I Google, I can't find any solid recent information...just a bunch of crap from Freerepublic on how the network is tanking.

I don't waste my time with NPR anymore. I listen to Air America exclusively, and I hope it stays on the air.

1. Haven't seen the ratings, but...
common sense says that if they're adding affiliates every other week, they must be doing something right :)

11. Same here. I even bought Sirius so I could listen to Air America.
And I let Sirius know that's why I subscribed.

btw, there's a documentary on hbo, coming up in the next week or so, about air america and the startup of liberal talk shows in general.

did you know that air america is playing mostly on clear channel (that bastion of democracy) stations?

4. I listen to Air America via computer
I live in a red state that is dominated by Clear Channel Radio, so I listen to Air America every day via my computer. Randi Rhodes is my favorite.

10. I also listen to AAR via the net. I live in Ga, and they did start airing
AAR on a station out of Athens, but I can't get it inside my house, and it's not really great reception in the car (although it's usually good enough to still listen as I tool down the hwy!).

6. All the hosts should be
screaming this from the rooftops and they should produce self promoting ads that state that clearly, because surprise, surprise... the corporate media isn't getting it. They've swallowed the freepers version hook, line, and sinker. Not that that's in any way new or different.

7. Just added L.A.
My mom drove out to L.A. from Palm springs last week and said billboards are up all over that say we like it on the left or something like that for their new Air America station 1150 which has a good signal. It used to be a all sports format and just switched over, my mom was so happy to be able to hear a talk station from her point of view.

to visit relatives, it seems so conservative politically down there. Of course, I'm in the liberal San Francisco Bay Area. I think they really need Air America. I hope it makes a difference. Welcome to DU!:hi:

9. #1 here in Portland OR.
I even tell my own friends that if they don't listen AAR and listen to another talk radio they are losers.

But really Air America is #1 in Oregon. We love them.

12. I stream KPOJ at work.
Because of the time zone difference, the shows line up really nicely with my schedule :)

16. Actually, according to January, 2005 Arbitron ratings..
KPOJ is number 8 overall and number 3 in stations classified as "talk radio." But they are gathering a good base, no doubt about that! :)

14. even better than Air America
is 760 AM in Boulder. You can stream their station on the net:

http://www.760thezone.com/main.html

They have a mix of local talent and Air America hosts. I listen to it mainly for Jay Marvin in the mornings, who is great. For those who don't know him, he was for years the lone democratic voice on the uber right wing AM 890 WLS in Chicago. He had a hilarious show that just infuriated right wingers. He was forced to "calm down" by WLS AM staff, and paired with a witch named Eileen. He was then fired (or left, not sure) for being a liberal and got the morning gg in Boulder.

I listen to this stream all day and then switch to Air Americas web stream for Mike Malloy. I dont listen to this much, maybe a few days a week, I find too much to be overkill. Music is much more soothing during this crappy time.
Anyway, I find the Boulder commercials to be pleasant, quite and relaxed, which keeps me listening longer.

Check it out!

18. I'm on the very fringe of Air America's AM signal here in Maine...
This station was slated to be changed to sports programming after the election last year, but local activism saved it for the time being. The station is currently begging listeners to become "Air America Advocates," where private citizens/professionals spend $100 a month to get a short ad for themselves or a charity read a few times a month on air. I thought it seemed like a rather desperate tactic for a for-profit radio station.
