1. Elect moderates that enable/enact policies the party finds abhorrent

When one party refuses to do anything but yank the agenda their way and the other is more interested in riding the political winds than directing them, guess in whose direction things will go? Non-leftist Democrats have a use, but only in the overall plan to move things back to a Democratic majority, and such a majority would have to include leftist values such as labor/civil rights, progressive taxation, and public funding for social necessities.
