My brother was visiting yesterday. (Love him, hate his politics.) The TV was on CNN in the background. When Wolf started talking about the tapes, My brother was yelling at the TV that it wasn't a story, so I told my brother I agreed. I hope he doesn't think I might be coming around to his thinking because we agree on something political! We may agree, but we are coming from opposite directions. He thinks it is muckraking to attack His President. I think it is a smokescreen to protect His President.
My brother and I agree on illegal immigration and we agree on legal immigration. We agree that health insurance is too high. I think that the insurance companies are raking us over the coals, he thinks it's because of trial lawyers. (I have sent him to snopes.com.)
We won't discuss the war, but before it started, I said it would happen soon and he said Bush was just bluffing.
Somehow, he got a John Kerry / Jane Fonda connection in his subconscience. He is a Viet Nam vet. He had no logical reasoning for the connection, but emotionally, he could not vote for Kerry. I can't argue with emotion.
I don't think he likes Bush. Maybe he even thinks Bush is bad for him, but I think he feels a membership to some kind of club by supporting him. I really don't understand it. We all would be so much better off under different leadership.
I think the Gannon story has the potential for getting somebody arrested. If, as has been reported, he knew about "Shock and Awe" four hours before it occurred, someone is telling national secrets to someone whom I believe does not posess a security clearance. I think Bush said we attacked ahead of schedule because we had Intel that Saddam was at a specific place at that time. My questions are: 1) If we knew where Saddam was, why didn't we attack FOUR HOURs earlier while he was still there instead of during TV Prime Time? 2) If the White House started leaking that we were going to attack four hours before we did, then the leak may have given Saddam a chance to change his plans and not go to that location in the wee small hours of the morning. This leak could be called 'treason'. In either case, if Gannon knew the attack was coming, four hours prior to it happening, then Bush lied to us on national TV about his reason for beginning hostilities when he did.
