Bush Spending More Weekends in Washington
By JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer

Saturday, February 12, 2005

(02-12) 16:44 PST WASHINGTON, (AP) --

President Bush spending yet another weekend at the White House? It's true, even though he has made no secret of his dislike for Washington.

Bush usually takes any chance to fly off to his Texas ranch or, at the very least, spend the weekend at Camp David, the presidential retreat sprawling across hundreds of acres in Maryland's Catoctin Mountains. Since taking office in January 2001, he has visited Camp David 87 times, according to a tally by CBS News' Mark Knoller.

Not this weekend, though _ nor virtually any other this year.

In part, events have dictated his schedule.

Elections in Iraq fell on a Sunday, Jan. 30, for instance, and Bush wanted to be around to do exactly what he did _ appear publicly when all went much better than expected.

The Texan is said to dislike the colder temperatures on the wooded, mountaintop grounds of Camp David. His only trip there since Christmas _ a quick Sunday-Monday jaunt following his Jan. 20 inauguration _ happened to fall amid the region's biggest snowstorm of the season. Bush told aides that more visits to Camp David should probably wait.

3. Saw Novak on T.V. He said Bush didn't give Rove the job
Rove apparently demanded it. I guess Rove is demanding that Bush spend weekends in Washington so that Rove's agenda can be completed.

You cannot put on a show without your puppet!

4. Too lazy to leave the house on the weekends?
I can relate to that. I'm getting that way myself as I get older.

9. Hmmm...Yesterday, he spent an hour with his campaign ad chief
snip>
On Saturday, he repeated his now-usual practice of spending an hour or more on trails at a Secret Service training facility in Beltsville, Md., this time with campaign ad chief Mark McKinnon along for company. He also uses the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va., for bike-riding, which takes up a chunk of nearly every weekend day as he pursues a New Year's resolution to drop the extra pounds a December physical showed he had gained.
............

I see some slick, yet horrifying depictions of the loooooooming Social Security CRISIS spots in our near future.

10. There's a total waste of newsprint/bandwidth
Have they no REAL stories to write about? Then they should take the day off. Maybe Reuters will lend them a topic next time. Maybe they could borrow an idea off of The Guardian.

12. Well, they have to make it look good.
After all he did take a couple of hits during the election about all the time he spent on vacation.

Could be something up though that Cheyney wants him there?????????????

13. World conquest and feudal domestic restructuring's hard werk...
Poor Junior. Them meanies who's bin pullin' his strings just won't let him be. Now here he was full of piss and vinegar after his "win", and was comin' out swingin', but his overlords gave him such a tough row to hoe, and now the poor dear has to actually toil.

Damn. He'd always thought "legacy" meant a free ride in life, now he realizes it's something he needs to build to dispel the realities of the bungling thievery and narcissistic larceny during his reign of error.

Bummer.
