1. No, proof that most Americans are MISINFORMED.
The American people aren't the enemies - the Corporate Media and the Radical Rightwing are.

They're dumber than him.

6. "misinformed" is much too kind, imo
Bush supporters are narrow-minded bigots. The dems are the modern day equivalent of Galileo, trying to convince the RW Catholic Church that the earth is not stationary and not in the middle despite evidence to the contrary.

10. True, many Bush** supporters are narrow-minded bigots...
...but I'm not NEARLY so cynical - or careless - as to think that nearly half the citizens of our nation are.

The disconnect comes because the Radical Rightwing is very skilled at invoking a worldview in people's minds which is totally foreign (and to all appearances insane) to Progressives. I'd suggest before we start lowering ourselves to third-grade name-calling, we do a bit of reading.

For details on left/right worldviews and how the Radical RW invokes theirs, see George Lakoff's "Don't Think of an Elephant." For information on the fatal error of underestimating your enemy, Sun Tsu's "The Art of War."

21. Well, the US does have a long history of bigotry
about 350 years of slavery, another one hundred years of legalized segregation and discrimination, and only about 40 years of anything different.

Why would anyone want to reduce that record of well-documented bigotry to "3rd grade name calling?" Were those bigots just "misinformed" as well?

Bigotry is the same weapon that's been used for eons, against any group those in power have wanted to disenfranchise, whether due to race, religion, nationality, sex, social status, political philosophy, etc. A basic high school class in propaganda devices helped me to know the difference between an "evil doer" and a leader spreading propaganda about another religious group in order to benefit himself financially.

At what stage did so many Americans have so many Americans missed the boat? Perhaps your suggested reading list would help to answer the question? I have a list of my own books to read right now, so why not make your point?

12. Sorry. But all it takes is to hear or read his words and you will know:
a. He's a liar, and b. He is by no known definition, 'intelligent'.

I refuse to give Amerikans a pass on this. There has been plenty of time and opportunity for people to notice his ignorance. They are either too lazy, or too stupid, or too greedy to notice.

14. So you refuse to do any further reading on this, and just plan to hold...
...onto your hatreds, right or wrong?? Oh, now THAT's smart. <LOL>

The Radical RW is COUNTING on us labeling them as stupid. Continue to do so at your own peril.

(By the way, although Bush** IS a liar, people understand that we ALL lie once in awhile, to one degree or another - "little white lies" and such. Lakoff suggests we instead frame this issue as, "Bush** has betrayed our trust." Because while it's okay for a President to lie once in awhile, it's NEVER okay for a President to betray the trust of the American people.)

22. I would never get to the point of using your framing techniques
because I only talk about the weather to RWers.

When Bush's domestic and foreign policies start to hit the RWers where it hurts, they may start to put two and two together, but I won't hold my breath. I don't live in the U.S. and have no family member in the military, so I am able to make adjustments overseas ensuring a lighter "Bush footprint" on my backside than those of you across the pond may be experiencing, or are about to. It's every man for himself now.

Good luch with your framing techniques in the next four years.

15. Sorry. But all it takes is to hear or read his words and you will know:
a. that the Radical RW has created one powerful, devious bit of psy-ops, and
b. that you've fallen for it.

I refuse to give the Radical RW a pass on this.

Nonetheless, I see that you think it's so much easier to call Bush** playground names than to admit we're wrong, so let's just let the Radical RW redefine us and marginalize us till we're just a footnote in the history books. Sound good??

Even with the corrupt media, there's still plenty of ways to find out what's going on. After all, we seem to know, don't we?

32. I am not a participant in international banking.
I have no investments and I have few assets. My knowledge or lack of knowledge has no impact on the world of international banking.

On the other hand, EVERY American has a responsibility to know what is going on with their own government. As voters and as citizens, it's our responsibility to keep up on current events and hold our government accountable through our votes. The impact of a lack of knowledge on the part of the people has a tremendous impact on the state of our country.

Big difference, no?

7. stoopid and-or egophrenic!
Many Americans really are that stoopid, but not the majority.

All Reeptiles are either stoopid or suffering from malignant egophrenia, while Bush himself is definitely both.. though smart enough to make people believe lies because .. as Levy pointed out.. he knows how to co-opt the normal sounding aspects of his personality into the service of his malignant macho fantasies and us-vs.-them policies.

Bush is so sick, and so is America.

8. and where..
"where a] 50% of people polled believed that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11 and b] ShrubCo gets selected to the Presidency twice in a row??"

And where textbook publishers actually listen to screeding rightwing idiots who wish to make Creationism part of science education and heterosexual family values part of health education while eliminating information on std's and protections?

Where people are endlessly quoted as saying that they believe Bush is a good, consistent leader who doesn't say things because they are politically expedient?

What is it with people who completely lose their minds over malignant egophrenics like Reagan and Bush? Somebody ought to do a study on the Reptile Brain of the Rep-ublicans....

Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 01:12 PM by McCamy Taylor
Havent people here learned by now that you can get a poll to tell you whatever you want the poll to tell you if you word it correctly? And we all know from November that the pollsters are working for *. Right now they want the polls to confirm that he could have won in November. The low voter confidence numbers didnt look good so they had to dream up some new numbers.

Come on, guys. Do you want me to conclude that people at DU are STOOPID?

Will admit that the 2/3 thinking him intelligent is pretty silly, but then guys think that women with big breasts are smart too.

19. No. They're logical, but have an frame of reference not based on reality.
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 01:12 PM by w4rma
The logic goes:

"He's President, therefore he must be smart since you have to be smart to jump through the hoops required to becoming President."

What isn't taken into account is that he's a puppet for Cheney and others who are very devious and have brains. All Bush does is memorize speeches and read cue cards. He is, in his own words, "a media creation".

That doesn't sound like the nuanced definition you give. And it was "people," not "behavior" to which he was referring. Important difference. Words matter.
