RW-ers gloating over Dean loss
from drudge to goldberg to beck, they're giddy as hell as using dean's loss to try to write the political obituary for bush critics - everyone from al gore to janeane garofalo

thanks, iowa voters! another triumph for politics as usual!

"Vote Kerry - George W. Bush may want war, but John Kerry only supports it."

1. If they're gloating, it's premature.

Let them have their short-lived fun. We expected this from them.

2. Nervous Laughter
They would much rather face Dean than Kerry, Edwards or Clark and everyone knows it.

5. Yes I think their pre-emptive attacks backfired
The Iowans didn't let the media make their selections for them.

They (Fox especially) has done nothing over the last month but blast Dean and make the other Dems sound more reasonable, I think they hoped that not only would they get to run against Dean * but also paint the Dem voters as being way out there.

* I do think they thought a run against Dean would be a shoe-in. First that is a mistake, the country is split right down the middle. Secondly, they overreached (this is ALL media) and spoiled what they thought was a foolproof plan, they underestimated the people of Iowa to see through this crap and they underestimated their own foolishness.

7. I LOVE it when the pundits fumble the ball
Which is more often than not. I wonder what Peggy Noonan's take is going to be. She's pretty hot for an older lady.

11. WHy not... if they Face Dean...

they won't have to do any work since some so called democrats already did all the work for them. Not only that, but be sure that republicans would have the help of so called democrats who will join with Bush to defeat Dean.

They really wanted Dean, and see Kerry as a formidable opponent.

9. Before they have to retract their words, do a save of the page
HTML only.

Keep it for reference.

I don't know how many times I've re-read the freepers' mega chortlefest over the stock market going haywire in 12/2000. Constantly telling each other that the market will tank if Gore is installed. Whoops.

Anybody try to find that since?

10. THey're not the only ones...

The DC insider teams of, Kerry and Gephardt & Kucinich and Edwards both tried to team up and knock Dean out of this race, to shut out the grass roots.

And yet even with 4 vs 1 Dean still was able to hang on to a respectable 19% and 3rd place. (Clinton got 3%)

The insiders spent major ammo last night. Gephardt can only fall on his sword for Kerry once, and the same is true for Kucinich. A lot of Kucinich supporters will be disappointed to discover they've been conned and Kucinich is just another DC insider who has ordered his supporters to back Edwards, who voted for the war.

All that talk about being something different from Kucinich was just noise, and when the chips were down he showed he's just another DC insider brokering power and influence to keep it out of the hands of the people.

Monday night was not about republican vs democrat or liberal vs centrist... it was about those who have the power now, using their influence to keep that power in their hands and out of yours.

17. Yeah, that was the story, wasn't it?
Rove wants Dean, blah, blah, blah (chortle, chortle, chortle)

Well, the dumbasses have tipped their hand now, haven't they? It'll be hard to go back to the "Rove wants Dean" song and dance now that they've gone on record as being so exultant over his third place finish in Iowa.

16. I Think They Are Most Scared of Edwards & Clark
I think they see Dean as a loser which is not necesarily true. I have to admit that I was glad they chose GWB in the GOP primaries cuz I thought he had no chance. I admit, I was wrong, although they stole it outright and they might attempt that route again!

I though Edwards' speech was awesome....I really liked listening to him, he made me real hopeful instead of desparing, and he has that certain glow of a winner, and he did it without all the mega-endorsements, money, and media attention. He's my new fave!

18. Of course they are
Kerry's victory likely means that we will spend more time and a lot more money beating each other up to select a candidate. They will also gloat if Kerry loses NH. The more even and hard fought the battle is the better they will like it. I am sure that they would truly love a brokered Democratic convention with hurt feelings all around.

Count on issue ads against any frontrunner. The repugs want this to be as long and painful as possible. I am sure that they will do whatever they can to make it so.

The Whitehouse spokesman on CNN giving the preview for the SOTU address could barely contain his glee. "There is a serious argument in the Democratic Party. (smile) It sounds like it will take them quite a while to sort this out. (bigger smile)"
