On the bright side: I think people see through the media BS.
I think the media is running on the fumes of credibility. I don't think the media threw the election as bad as it did in 2000.

It was really the 527 ads. Republicans had to spend a lot of money to fill the airwaves with bullshit, rather than rely on free bullshit.

Hannity? Preaching to the quoir. Limbaugh and O'Reilly? Totally discredited for the drug addled & sexual bullies they are. The skinny woman? Got a pie in the face like a circus freak clown.

CNN? NPR? I don't think people trust them the way they used to.

3. I agree the media has not played watch dog the last 4 years
but it was NOT as bad to Kerry as it was to Gore in 2000 and I think the original post may be right in some sense. There could be some backlash against the media for not tell us there were no WMD prior to Mach 2003.

8. the swiftboat stuff was mostly on cable (fable) news
remember cable news has what, 2 million viewers? Not as big an impact as the ads themselves.

I think.

2. I think the younger people are starting to see through it
thanks to people like Jon Stewart and the internet, but the majority of the baby boomers still buy into it. It's a start, but not quite there yet

5. hardball had a great show last night w/ newspaper editors
The bush administation cuts them off, won't send guests on the air,
won't give out information.

This explains, partly, why the media has been kissing their ass.

They also mentioned Murdoc, Fox on high and so other factors.

6. media refused to report that Bush is a liar
The Bush administration are the most outrageous, shameless liars possible, and the media made it seem like they were conventional politicans, equated the biggest Bush lies with trivial exaggerations by Kerry.

:puke:

9. I'm not saying the media was good. I'm saying people were more immune
to their BS this time 'round.

I think the media dug its own grave the last four years and people don't trust them the way they used to.

Thank MWO (RIP), media matters, John Stewart and DU's LBN and GD2004.

7. Possibly true, but four days late
Doesn't much matter anymore.

Of course, with deliberations proceeding in the Peterson case, I don't know quite what cable news will talk about for the next 18 months.

Then again, they'll always have Paris (Hilton).

10. The ones here in New York do.
I'm surprised..but I shouldn't be..they aren't online and everyone I talk to at the co-op where I work ..knows what cnn has been doing..pure propoganda.

And they think bush stole the election with voter fraud. Unanimously!
