how Howard Dean compares with Ronald Reagan in strategy:
when Ronald Reagan lost out to Gerald Ford in the repubs nominating process in 1976, Ronald Reagan spent the next 4 years going around the country helping LOCAL republicans and STATE republicans. He spent 4 years going around the country being a friend to people who shared his values, and to opponents looking for common ground. In this way he built up political capital and used that capital in 1980 to win his nomination and subsequent election.

Dr.Dean is now doing the same thing with democracyforamerica.com, and he is helping US to help local dems all across the country, at the local level, EVEN IN THE RED STATES. The philosophy is simple: NO election goes uncontested, even if the dem friendly candidate will only get one vote, his own. CONTEST EVERY ELECTION. The "dean dozens" people had some success with this strategy, and even those who lost have now a base of support in their local communities.

If you do not support Howard Dean, then find your own candidate of choice and do the same thing starting at the local level in EVERY state, red or not.

5. Obama dominated in Illinois (the midwest).
And the returns were roughly 70-28 for Obama, and 55-45 for Kerry, which means 25% of the voters voted for Bush* and Obama.

3. I'm getting more and more impressed with DFA.
I went to one meetup but then got more involved with the Kerry campaign and kind-of let it go, but they're looking pretty good as far as a place where I think a lot of us who want to continue on in activism should give a consistent effort.

4. It seems to be the best grassroots Dem organization so far.
They're definitely making headway.
